"God" created the brain in animals and nature in such a way that they're not aware that they are suffering or feel pain? Have you ever walked into an animal shelter and looked into the eyes of dogs who feel afraid, feel sad, feel lonely, and who feel despair? Have you ever watched them tremble in their emotional struggle in pain? Have you ever watched a dog smile and wag its tail and dance around in joy when its human companions arrive home? To be so mindlessly unaware and ignorant in such a way that you can conclude that "God" created animals in such a way that they are unaware of their own suffering. That takes religion. Religion makes people believe stupid things and say stupid things. Religion is disgusting. Your absurd conclusion is insulting to the human intellect and to the intellect of other animal species that you are obnoxiously out of touch with. The late Christopher Hitchens was correct when he said, "Religion poisons everything."

Atkins got lucky in life to get a platform like this, as, obviously, he's intellectually limited. He manifestly doesn't realise that it's no more difficult for a football match with crowd and media presence during the halftime interval to appear from nothing, or anything else whatsoever, than a subatomic particle (whether one described in current or future scientific literature). Not to perceive this is a sign of brainwashing.

I am confounded that scientists don’t just acknowledge that, “We not know where we come from, why we are here, and where we are going”. Until they get the scientific evidence that they have the answers to these questions, I think the appropriate answer should be, “We don’t know”.

Explanations, explain. The noun god explains precisely nothing. How exactly can something that does not explain anything be claimed to be an explanation of anything? Craig has been corrected multiple times on his assertions about the origin of the universe, and one he conveniently ignores every time, which is that the universe exists as a brute fact. That is it exists necessarily. And before all you theists try to jump on this, consider that BOTH theist and atheist accept that nothing can come from nothing. It has no properties, no potentiality. Hence, whatever the universe is, it must exist necessarily. Likewise, it must necessarily exist in a form that facilitates the fine tuned constants. The crucial correction on Craig’s assertion of the universe, physical necessity, should instead be a brute fact. This is not only perfectly consistent with everything that is known, but is also philosophically robust. To try and argue that a necessary state needs an explanation (god) is to defy the rationality of a necessary state. Thus, Craig is trying to argue that god explains a necessary state (which IS an explanation), but ironically is necessarily incoherent. In other words he his trying to provide an explanation of the explanandum. And that, dear theist, is just nonsense. Also note that Craig banging on the validity of the Kalam only ever demonstrates a cause, not god. And Craig’s moral argument is widely regarded as philosophical fluff and is not taken seriously for a very good reason. Theist you should know there are many ethical explanations that not only take objective morality as a given, but literally dozens of them have no need to ground their explanations in any god gobbledegook.

As a retired academic I see two divergent approaches to research used by these two professors. One is a scientist who seeks to explain the world around him without any agenda. The other is a philosopher who begins with his conclusion and then seeks evidence to support it. And that is simply dishonest.

All the arguments to defeat the atheistic principles in science are good. But as soon as you start imposing that God can only be the God in Bible, you become like those materialists. Both modern Christianity and modern science turn people away from God. I would never force myself into relationship with God just so I don't go to hell, or because some possible historical figure died on a cross. Historical events or people are not proof of God. Christians actually have nothing if they don't accept the ressurection. Even if that happened, yogis in India could do much more impressive feats and miracles that Jesus allegedly did. But Christians cannot help themselves. As soon as you accept the Bible, everything else is Satan. No thanks.

I know he made a lot of advancements in science and evolution, modern evolution. But all in all, Stephen Hawking was an idiot. Very frustrated with stuff that happened in his life, his wife not being with him, his life not being what his ego wanted. Probably God if he's there somewhere and exist knew all along and cursed him or gave him the Job's choice, believe in me even in suffering and you will be saved. But, he preferred to shit his shit ideas from his frustrated mind. A brilliant mind but full of resentment that only served the devil's purpose. Hope he's doing well where he's now.
