For example: the gravesite for Dick Brewer is about a 1 minute walk from the main highway that connects Alamogordo to Mescalero then Ruidoso, hwy 70. *the key is knowing where to pull over :) it's not at the historical marker sign thats about a quarter mile off location. its not easy to find, but its so close to the highway its within rock-tossing distance. these archaeological sites are intertwined right into our highways and byways, that's amazing. I was able to locate where to pull over by my friend in Glencoe, who went there routinely as a kid for daily fun. forging the connections to discover these areas right alongside common highways we all use is shocking cultural archaeology in my opinion.

the top reason for making this movie was I wanted to give Young Guns movies fans a way to see the real locations. Since I was very young I always wondered for example what Billy's courthouse looked like, and especially stinking spring etc. The place where Buckshot Roberts got down on one knee: lets dance! To be standing on the exact spot at Blazer's Mill in the video gave cold chills up and down my spine for two hours straight as I walked around looking for Dick Brewer's gravesite. The footage of me walking up on Dick and Buckshot's grave is the live-time discovery filming for the location, it wasn't mapped back then anywhere. you had to know locals who knew where things were. In my case, a very very very smart and nice man from a fruitstand new Glencoe NM was a powerful location reference: his grandfather was Sanchez, the original land of the John Tunstall kill site was his grandfather's land. ~His grandfather knew the kid~ Developing all those friends, locations, secret access trails took many many separate visits to Ruidoso NM and surrounding areas. There are special people who hang out in Lincoln especially at the historic sites. Chances are if you see someone whose pants are tucked into their boots, and they have a handlebar mustache + a belt with bullets around it, you might want to see what they know and are willing to chat about. some of them are landowners of historically-significant sites.

I use the myradar app for android, free version, to position for these shots. For safety I highly recommend anyone dl that app, look at it during storms, and when a swirling red zone is heading your way you'll see it a half hour early (how I got time to drive from Lubbock to Anton for the shots) and you leave, don't stay. At minimum you're saving all your glass from broken hail damage and you can come back home in a couple hours. Hunkering down is from an era where spotters only had radio or local news for pinpointing, in case they couldnt warn fast enough we hunkered down and waited. now that ability is free and in your pocket and 100% accurate to the minute. Depart, dont hunker down unless you live out in the country and might get stuck. If you live on pavement, leave and come back in two hours. Taking cover is highly dated info depending on where you live and the signals you can get on a smart phone. Leaving before the storm hits is 2021 technique.

reason the bike rack is on backwards: this bike weighs as much as 3 normal ones. The bars have to face in to ride on top of spare tire/weight support.

Maybe I'm old school but I like the video don't like to hear the music rather hear you talk about the facts just my personal opinion but thank you for the video

The Alex McSween's house, that was set on fire, was in the empty lot next door to the Museum. John Tunstall, and Alex McSween are buried behind the Tunstall Museum.

Hopefully this context adds some background to the footage: nearly all shots are first discovery shots. Not all these sites are easily located; stinking spring and tunstall site and Bosque Redondo and others are the result of several camping trips required per segment. Either no permission gained or failed to locate, I traveled back home several times with the absolute lock on to one day get the segment, legitimately. I'd focus on one segment over months and these shots are my first look at the rock house- cold chills as it emerges over the dune after hours searching, with permission. It's the first look down after grid- searching the Tunstall site and the monument happened to be right under. Nobody has flown Bosque Redondo before or since and I took time to meet with rangers and lucky they let me complete a core crucial filming segment where Billy was both employed and killed, McSween's homestead. These places filmed were the result of 40 or more trips to New Mexico for either meetings at a city hall or for back camping trips for footage + hours scanning for locations. Stinking spring was the luckiest footage of them all, the actual rock house where Billy, Arkansas Dave, a horse, and other cohorts packed in one cold December night to hide from the posse of Pat Garrett

It's a historical fact Billy the Kid walked through that door.

That was fantastic! Thanks for uploading. I grew up in the Young Guns era and always loved the Billy the Kid story, those two movies are still some of my favorites to this day.
