there was a video by basix4 who had made a tutorial of the song (like in 2009 or something), and it was straight up 1 to 1 with the closest tone ive heard. sadly his yt acc got hacked and started playing fake spacex livestreams and was shortly terminated afterwards

very much depends on the location. You're driving home from work and it comes on the radio... meh! You're in an arena at an event and it comes on at a loud volume... now we're talking!

I can understand your opinion, but it is song that is very much a crowd song. When you got everybody in an arena stamping and clapping their feet in time with it, it’s a whole other experience. Totally right about the guitar solo. Brian May always seemed to know just how much of a solo a song needed, never overdone, never too long, they always felt clear, defined, and in many respects humble as it wasn’t trying to steal the show just add that little extra to a song. Watching Freddie on stage alongside May it looked like he absolutely adored Brian’s talent and what he brought to Queen.

Kinda like Hotel California with Joe Walsh.

@@PeaceWatcher-ek7zl what does my profile pic have to do with anything 😂 Eddie Van Halen IS the greatest guitarist ever (Hendrix is overrated as fuck, and Satriani is just not quite as good). And this solo, although simple, is just perfect. It’s so beautiful and powerful. You don’t have do add all that fancy shit to make a great solo. This could go the opposite way, too, for instance, the edge is one of the most overrated guitarists ever, right there with Hendrix and Jimmy Page. Once you get to Satriani, Randy Rhoads, Eddie Van Halen, it’s all really SUBJECTIVE, not OBJECTIVE. I definitely prefer Eddie, but you don’t see me being a dick about it.

Whenever I listen to this song, I do it specifically and only to hear the guitar solo. What an incredibly moving piece of music.

I don’t know, I think Elton got a whole lotta accolades for his talents for several decades. Everyone I hear holds his talents in the very highest acclaim.

But I would say that his vocal abilities now in 2023 sound much much more forced and strained. This track was Elton in his finest form.

@@alphabeets he had a surgery in 1986. It kinda changed his voice. It got a little bit deeper and he lost the ability to use his Falsetto. But he still sounded good. But I'd say from 2010 he declined

I don't know about that I remember the radio playing "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" and "Someone Saved My Life Tonight" a lot and me learning the words and singing along. Also "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds" and "Pinball Wizard" were big radio hits when I was about 13 - 15 y.o.
