@@Valhooli I hear that. I kinda do the opposite though, I want the first playthrough to be raw (no summons, no spirit ashes) and then in NG+ I do it all lol.

This boss seems pretty fun with magic! Havent spent a lot of time with it though

Yea I know it resets the posture timer even with a kukuri hit, I wasnt worried about it on this run, but maybe i should of been on a few bosses.

spirit ashes are probably fantastic for this fight for sure. the taylew ash is pretty tanky to. I think magic in general is pretty good against him and hes weak to holy. Sounds like you had a good build though, good stuff!

I believe for gaius on this run I did the deflecting hard tear, which is a crystal tear for your physick flask. Basically if you block at the very last second it “parries” him. It doesn’t count as an actual parry but it negates all/most damage while not consuming much stamina

Hitbox is definitely funky, but I was able to do this fight last night without any special tools. The dodge is doable after some practice, i believe in you

Yea I have beaten this guy two additional times now after this video was made including once at rune level 1. I have actually grown kinda fond of him now that I have learned him. I think guard countering is still a great way to beat him if you struggle, including the weapon I used since it had holy on it. Faith/int build probably rips this dude though

I played through sekiro a few months back and swapping to elden ring after was a rough go lol

I wont pretend to be an expert at using shields but ill try my best. Blacksteel great shield should be a good shield for this boss as it has high physical negation. I would first make sure you have the required stats to use the shield, but I assume you do. On top of that when you block depending on the damage you take it consumes stamina, so make sure you arent getting stamina stagger busted. Also I assume you are using a controller, to guard/block with a controller its not L2 to block it would be L1 on Playstation or LB for xbox. I hope this helps, but if it doesnt try finding a regular enemy to test blocking on first before going back in.

@@Valhooli yeah I was using L1 to block and the charge move would just knock me over, weird

@@squibby4410 The only time I would ever get knocked over from something like this is if I wasnt holding block all the way through of it was consuming all my stamina

Use the deflecting hardtear on your flask and timing guards will negate damage and stamina drain.

My first kill of this boss, I absolutely hated it. My second kill, I still hated it, but I hated it less. Im hoping on future kills, Ill hate it less and less as I learn it.

Yea anything with a dash or something for him is SO good. The deflecting hardtear is also fun to use on him, which is what i did so I could basically parry the charge with any wepaon.

Rellana, Messmer, Bayle and Midra are all at the top for me. Really really great fights and going back through to do them again was so fun.

@@Valhooli bayle was amazing for a spectacle and Igon’s voice line, but his fight felt too hectic for me to really enjoy it. And I lucked through Messmer in 3 tries so I didn’t get to see much of him

He is by no means my favorite, but the more ive done him the less I hate him. Hes certainly not great but other than his charge attack hes manageable.

I’m on the last boss of the dlc with the martial arts and Horah loux is still my favorite boss I killed with them. Just felt right

Rellana is hard, but final boss is a different beast lol. I personally am not a fan of the last boss, its hard for the wrong reasons. P1 is great though.

Ive actually talked to a few friends about this and wanting something like this. I am not sure if you are on PC, but if you are you could look into something like save organizers or cheat engine and you can just kinda do what you want. I also have some friends who do a boss fight and just die at the end so they can go again. But I agree this boss was a lot of fight, i personally like messmer better, but they are pretty close.

The dry leaf arts are normal smithing not somber. So you can change the AoW and affinities. So yea you can do frost, bleed whatever else is available.
