yea it feels that way for sure, but I later found a more consistent solution: try not to move too far back from him but stay in a sweet spot where it does show you the Danger warning symbol(i.e DONT move as far back as i did in 4:06 but stay a bit closer). The danger symbol will consistently appear for the horizontal attack if you don't move too far back from him(like at 5:02 where i get the symbol and sound effect). i know its tempting to move further back to seemingly 'get more time' to react, but then the game stops showing the danger symbol and we get screwed. So stay in a sweet spot not too far away from him, dont preemptively dodge or jump till we are certain the danger warning is missing(sound or symbol) signaling which attack is coming; if no symbol dodge forward, if symbol jump up and over(admittedlly this whole setup is still very tight on time, but it feels much more consistent and doable)... His fight is so good i wanted to see if there is a way around this single frustrating point(and also the arena i guess) and the above strategy is best one i currently have :)

I don't know if you were serious about the question about being good, but i was really bad at the game at first and didn't really know 'how people were good at something so difficult' Then i switched to using d-pad instead of analog stick for movement, and also shifted to PC since my Playstation somehow had some input lag which made the combat feel a bit off. Both these changes and after **a ton of practice**, i think i became decent; though lots more still to improve :)

ahti is actually name of a god from finnish mythology so you might not be too far from the truth

When I first played Control I thought that Ahti WAS The Oldest House. Or perhaps the consciousness of The Oldest House in human form. The Oldest House seems to have intelligence to it and Ahti moves freely within it's ever changing walls. Vacations within it's foundations. Ahti had some sort of special connection to The Oldest House.

I feel like, in a sense, a janitor is exactly what he is. Cleaning up paranaturual messes. In his own small way. Like a janitor, he goes unnoticed by everyone. Except those who need him.

yeah.. Its from a short film that you can miss if you move away from the area before it starts playing spoilers below..... In Poet's Cinema area, after you have finished the area and seen Saga in the overlap, you return to the cinema screen area, and if you stick around a ~20 minute short film called Yötön Yö plays. And the clip is from said film. It was supposedly the lost work of Thomas Seine the filmmaker

He also played in Talvisota, which is arguably one of the best Finnish war movie

Sorry to hear that.. If you haven't played them, the original Max Payne games might be relatable and somewhat enjoyable for you. Alex Casey channels a ton of Max Payne's energy. We get a lot of writing(inner monologues of Max Payne) very similar to what we hear from Casey.
