Sir ultimate project, it would be so cool to see it grabbing stuff. Maybe fetching water bottle from kitchen With jut voice or something greater. ALSO TRY MACHINA SCRIPT framework!

Do you know if there's a place where I can buy the USB-A to USB-C converter that you used?
I got them from here: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/314723363011
I want to do this!
Hey Dan, what's the USB power delivery module you're talking about @ 2:37 ?
It's not a specific brand, they're typically called 'USBC PD decoy modules' or something similar.
How long robot working on battery? Which battery You use (how many mah)? I have robot with 12 servos mg996r and only 26 min on 5000mah:/
Check out the new Q&A on my channel. I go into details there.
Murphy’s law showing it’s face in the video |o/. Amazing project, congrats
Good job on this video as well!
Something fundamental has changed in the hardware architecture. The GPIO hardware has been off boarded from the main bcm chip over to their custom RP1 chip. For simple gpio interactions libraries like GPIOZero, and GPIOD exist and for simple hardware pwm you can get two channels with the rpi-hardware-pwm library. I haven't yet tried microphones or audio yet with the Pi 5 but I very much enjoy using it. Great video and robot!
I like this project. Is it open source?
That’s cool!
Hi I wanted to ask if there is a build guide for version 3 of this bot. Ive been trying to find it on the wiki and the youtube but I can only find it for version 2. I just wanted to ask. Its a super cool project!
Thanks! The wiki is for version 3. github.com/makerforgetech/modular-biped/wiki#versioning
@@DanMakesThings oh ok I was wondering if is a guide on how to connect all the 3d printed parts I can only see the files but im unsure sorry to bother I really want to build this but am unsure on how to start connecting the parts
@OldKnight724 worth watching the video playlist as most of this is covered there if it isn't clear from the models themselves.
@@DanMakesThings ok thank you
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👍
Epicccc!! Thanks for sharing! Is this Johnny 5v2 :) // Short Circuit
quick question will you ever move to x86?
No plans currently but I'm interested to hear more about the benefits?
@@DanMakesThings something like the latte panda has more computational power, at the cost of power draw. and the x86 platform has lots of software that is opensource.
Nice work!
Thanks. 👍
pls make it walk 😢
This looks great! How do you make it portable, considering that regular powerbanks wont work with the pi 5? Do you have a video about how it is powered?
Thanks! It's powered by three 18650s, or 9v via USB C , and a DC-DC CONVERTER 😅
@@DanMakesThings Thanks for the reply! That sounds cool, so you basically made your own solution instead of a power bank? Was the power bank never an option? Because I'm currently considering whether I should buy the pi 4 or pi 5 for building a portable robot, like yours but much more basic :) Do you think I could start out with a 5v/3a power bank at first and still build a capable basic robot with sensors and a camera? Or will I most probably need to make a custom solution like yours for the pi 5?
Worth a try! I chose the approach I took after a few failed attempts with other things in the past. The challenge was introducing servos because the spike in power usage would affect the pi.
do you break down how you set up the arduino/ rasberry pi ?
Check out the playlist and the wiki 👍
In fact, I would love for robots to be free of very complex things like coding and electronics.
Cool. 👍
How will I wait for a day?
I want one! It looks like a Disney robot
Super cool project! Thank you for sharing =)
Ok now I need to see how this compares to ROS. Seems like a commercialized and commercially supported version of the same thing?
If you use ROS I'd say it's more of a companion than a competitor from what I've seen. There are already quite a few ROS modules that have been made available for the Viam platform so you get the best of both worlds. I'd be interested to hear from anyone using ROS on Viam for their input.
awesome vid
❤
This is so cool! I would love to get started with animatronics and robotics... do you have any resources that might help?
Honestly I got started just by watching other projects and tutorials on TH-cam.
Please can you list the things needed
Checkout the wiki: github.com/makerforgetech/modular-biped/wiki
Currently I'm a teen and also want to build robots with emotions. Do you have any tips for young learners wanting to get into robotics?
Sure, start small and pick a project that you're interested in.
Its just like Star wars! People like you are going to revolutionize the world!

My robot was also inspired by TV and movie robots. Zoe talks about them all the time. th-cam.com/video/6maT0idJrbs/w-d-xo.html
I'll tell you i wish i would have started making these boxes, because its all you tubers do nowadays, all this can be raw built for a quarter of that box.
my comments keep dissapearing
can we add projector module in this as well ?
On DC games like F355 Passione Rossa 60 FPS always! (With PI 4 it was not possible)
Can you make the legs and neck as a different module, and connect a iphone/tablet onto the robot for simple telepresense? I was thinking you could put solar panels and a battery outside, and have the robots wander around in the back yard and at night they would go back to the "tree" solar panel charger to sleep. You could then get a chinese company to mass produce it.
Sure, it's modular so you can reconfigure as needed. You'd have a challenge with the 'wandering around the back yard' bit, but wheels might work ;)
funny i just had that hat received today a hour or 2 ago
Nice! Tell us how you're going to use it: bit.ly/makerforge-community
i gonna first test it and solder som connectors to yellow dc motor @@DanMakesThings
i made a video in dutch and english text
Very Good
I know it's gonna get good when I hear Scarlet fire
Can it actually walk
Does anyone have a total estimated cost for the all the parts needed for the complete build?
Love so much your content!!
When hi can walk?
I like your work
Nice work
Love your work, thank you for sharing it!
I have calibration routines for any of my creations that use servos. I save these calibration values to eeprom rather than copy hard values into the code. The pro-mini has 1k of eeprom. More than enough to hold this data. I also have an offset value that is added to the commanded angle to correct for the small error that may exist in the positioning of the servo horn. On startup, I check a ProgVal to see if the eeprom has calibration data in it, then load those values into the array for use whenever the servos are moved.
