The Aeronautical & Precision Engineering program at Inholland in Delft educates people in the broad spectrum of aerospace technology and hightech sectors. Sustainable approaches need more attention in the world around us and require good professionals who know how to apply the latest innovations. aftermovie SWAPEC2024: Future of Flight, a symposium by V.S.V. Sipke Wynia
Kudos for V.S.V. Sipke Wynia for organizing SWAPEC2024 about the Future Of Flight. It was a fantastic symposium and we are honored to have been part of this. Our main take away: what an impressive aerospace developments are taking place in our back-yard. Most of the speakers on stage did not exist 5 years ago and are now ramping up their sustainable aircraft developments so we can continue to fly in the future in a sustainable way.
Thanks to all the visitors for asking such great questions and for joining the discussions during the innovation market. There was a very healthy mix of young talent and experienced professionals which provided valuable discussions about human capital and how to deal with the growing need for engineers in the aeronautical domain.

Electric Dragonfly taxi testing at Teuge international AirPort

Since 2022 we have been testing the electric Dragonfly at Teuge International Airport in the Netherlands. So far the ground testing has included static testing in a test cell and taxi-tests on the airport. The test programme is continuing taxi testing starting September 2023. In a few months we hope to go airborne for the first flight.

Mixing of option vs fact here is amazing, these arm chair engineers commenting are whats wrong social media. It amplifies stupidity more anything.
This is incredibly difficult to do with materials that are thin per ply. Guys make it look easy but it is all to easy to cut through too deep

Great project. I have flown the prototype (Viking Aircraft, inboard gear), at the Southwest Regional Fly In, back in the 1980's. I also flew a Dragonfly with outboard gear (canard tip, bad idea). I also spent 10 years building one myself. If I can be of assistance please let me know. I have many photos of the build. Be sure to add vortex generators on the canard. We had issues with insect strikes causing problems.
Good job guys, i recalled my memories and enjoyed the take offs to landings and crashes. Remember, BUILD, FLY, FIX, REPEAT!
Besides the wheel placement this looks like a Burt Rutan Quickie that he designed in 1980.
Politics and technology don't mix. I realize global warming is the most popular religion in the Netherlands but the inventors of the EGR valve have no business touching airplanes. Electric power can deliver great torque but it's horribly inefficient and it's not sustainable. I'm going to use electric hybrid technology but I'm not going to go full electric. Maybe someday you'll be able to liquify pure electricity but until then your going to require petroleum to get far. Three major things you must get wrong to believe petroleum is not sustainable include; you're unaware that the planet makes petroleum quickly, you think carbon dioxide is bad and you don't seem to know that not only does the planet burn whatever petroleum we don't, but we burn it cleaner than nature.
I agree with the electric/gas hybrid. Can you tell what engine you are looking at to accomplish this? I was listening to a lecture by a master aviation mechanic who is in his 60’s. He was saying the Old School Lycomming and Continental engines are on the way out and that Rotax is on the cutting edge in a super light well engineered 1/2 air (cylinders)1/2 liquid (heads) integrated ignition + FI using car gas.

I have owned and flown Dragonflies since 1995. Over 500 hrs in type.
Dragonfly was never a glider. Burt Rutan designed Solitaire which was a glider.
