      Question: why is are my 1" dowel rods so loose in the 1" forstner drilled holes? I'm a beginner and this is perplexing me.

      Upon measuring: my 1" dowel is 1/32" too narrow for the 1" holes . . . I bought 1"×48" hardwood dowels. What gives?

    I bought the plans and just finished my second one. Both split during or soon after assembly. I was able to recover both by creating some router templates that allow me to rout out a pocket and glue in an insert with grain going in the opposite direction to avoid splitting.

    • @PeterAnglea
      @PeterAnglea 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yikes. How or where did it split? Mine shown in this video is almost 3 years old and is still holding up great.

      @alanrutherford93 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I wondered if the jaw at the top of the inner leg was susceptible to breaking since it’s parallel to the grain. For that reason, I’m using plywood for the legs.

    Hey Peter, couldn't find a way to reach out via email, but I ordered your plans about 45 minutes ago, and haven't received anything. Gumroad charged me, but I haven't got a receipt or plans or anything. From what I could tell, Gumroad got my email right, I just haven't received anything.

    • @PeterAnglea
      @PeterAnglea 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes! I would recommend version 2.0. It is now almost three years old, and still holding up great! Looks and functions just as well as it did on Day 1. The older version (shown in this video) I ended up giving away to a friend. It was nice, but not quite as strong. Go with version 2.0, for sure.

      Hi! If you purchased the Pikler Triangle 2.0 plans, those are the newest and best, not the design shown in this video. The two are not compatible with each other.

    Hi, just bought the plans this looks great. If I want to use slightly wider dowels (wife's preference) will these plans still work? It doesn't seem like it would make a differencebesides of course the material needed for dowels but thought I'd double check before I make a dumb mistake.

    • @PeterAnglea
      @PeterAnglea 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi! Sure, you can use any size dowel you want. The thicker, the stronger it will be. A 1 inch dowel (which I used) is plenty strong to support lots of weight, as I demonstrated, but you can certainly go thicker - it will just be more expensive.

    Hi Peter, Very nice design and great tutorial! I just bought the plans to make one for my 15 month daughter. I’ll use Ash for this project. I saw in the video that the extra piece of wood to make the « head » of the leg is simply glued to the the leg. Have you ever faced mechanical weakness at this junction? Would you recommend using dowel or domino to strengthen the assembly? Thanks for your help and for the plans!

    • @PeterAnglea
      @PeterAnglea 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi! Using glue alone is fine. A dowel or domino will not add very much extra strength to it. My Pikler Triangle is now almost three years old and still holding up strong.

    Look good. Have you considered an alternate version that secures the charging connector into a stationary position and hides the front part of the wire? I think both would be ideal, the first especially. Seems like you'd want to maybe flatten the bottoms and apply a gripping material so it wouldn't slide though. Just a thought!

  • @rebeccarocanello5804

    I clearly didn’t read the instructions well enough and used only 1x4 inch boards (instead of 1x4 and 1x6) so I just added a third piece like you did in this video. I was concerned with how close that U shaped cut was to the join on the 2nd and 3rd board. Have you found that yours has held up well enough and it wasn’t an issue, does the locking pin help with that? Or would I be better off starting over with the correct size?

    • @PeterAnglea
      @PeterAnglea ปีที่แล้ว

      Mine is still working great and gets a lot of use! As long as the joint was glued up properly, I wouldn't expect it to be any less strong.

    Thank you for this and the plans! FYI for any Parents out there thinking of attempting this project; Lowes has Poplar 1" dowels, don't buy a 1" forstner bit rather a 25mm bit, Blue bottle of wood glue, make sure you have plenty of 9" + clamps handy if you wish to knock this project out in 1 day, and good luck!

    I'm following this video to make a triangle for my young niblings. It's rare that I find an instructional video so clear and detailed that I have no questions. Just for reference, I purchased 13 dowels (4ft) and 2 Poplar boards (1inx4inx8ft) at the evil big orange home center for $122 in June 2022. Yes, I realize that you can't quite get four boards of 4ft length from two 8ft boards, but my niece and nephew will never notice half of a kerf!
