Its does matter how you caught them, if youre planning on keeping them and you foul hooked one, it should be released bc that one wasnt fair game. By that the salmon had a chance to live for few days to spawn. Your statement of keeping them they gonna die anyways only applys to catching them fair.

please stop snagging fish. anyone can do that...
flossing / snagging rig... zero skill required to take fish using this type of set up. especially when you target fish that are stacked up in a shallow pool directly in-front of you. how can you miss ?? edit... if you plan on keeping fish, you need to kill them immediately. keeping them tethered on a rope is just a brutal,slow and painful death. think about it...
They stay fresh longer if your going to be out a while
flossing = snagging zero skill required. just tell it like it is dude...

Keep practicing, your vids will get better. Don't be afraid to up your lb test and put more pressure on those fish. They are taking you for a ride.

Just a a single salmon egg in a hook
Single egg is a Snaggers go to set up, that's no good. What you want is a jaw breaker size of roe and a baitcaster rod.

Was there 10/1-10/3 was slow got one king , but going back this weekend cause water temps dropping finally , Enjoyed the video , what set up u got there like the pole and that’s a nice reel , what brands are they
I'm running 2 different setups. My fly set up is a 9ft 9wt gloomis. My reel is a Redington large arbor. The spinning setup is a 10.5ft okuma salmon rod with a 4000 size shimano stratic reel.

Been up two times this year and caught fish both.
I wished that I had planed the trip a week later. That week didn't have much of a push that week.
Was there 6-10 th was slow every day but Saturday was lot people so think got fish stirred up

Tons of fish this year! Been killing them for last 3 weeks. Fish top section of river or just up stream from black hole and you should have lots of luck.
Only people that struggle like him say that the fishing is slow. Plenty of guys are catching, including myself.
I thought about that but at the time there so many people with that idea. That area was loaded with people I disnt care to fight. I knew they were in those deep holes but it was a matter of fighting the people and fish.
Fishing has been slow. Many parts of the river would say the same. Water has been up quite high and the steelhead have been very picky with very few salmon around.
Fight the fish with the butt of the rod when you’re high sticking it like that it’s really not that much pressure being put on the fish
Thanks for the advise. I'm more of a bass fisherman so whenni hook up on one these monsters I forget about technique due to the adrenalin rush.
@@crystalwaterfishing just get a friend to hold the rod while you hold the fly and get him to hold it this way and you’ll realize when you’re high sticking them you’re really not putting that much pressure on the fish
yes agree the rod will tire them if you know how.no offence .

Up to certine point innriver mouth you can cast spoons and plugs, what line you using. I run two types of 12 pound and caught dozens of fish without ever respooling.
