The Crayon Brotherhood
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 18 ส.ค. 2015
Hello TH-cam, I ask you join this Crayon eating Marine, as I dive headfirst into the world of overlanding, camping and outdoor cooking. I will be starting from scratch on this journey, purchasing an overland vehicle and gear as I go. I will bring you along for the entire process. I'll also be reviewing the gear and equipment as I go to help you, the viewer, to make better and more informed decisions on your gear for your own adventures. This will be a learning experience for me, and you all, if you choose to join me on my adventures. So, sit back with your favorite box of crayons and enjoy the ride.. Ps. My favorite flavor is Blue!!!

Just a small behind the scenes look of the days leading up to Overland Of America. This is in no way ALL that went in to setting up this killer event. Another fun trip!
I'll try to talk less in the next one 😂
Great video Dan just a rookie mistake forgetting I'm in 4high 😢
I had a great time brother can't wait to meet up again with everyone thanks for the invite.
Looked like a good ole time! Nice video!
Excellent job on this one Dan! Thanks for shoutout in the end. Looking forward to the next one
Of all the vids I've seen this one explaining the 2021 Mojave did it for me. Thanks. I did the rear locker sensor and fuse removal of f22 it got to dark to play with wires.
@11:17 do you have any coordinates for that area? I've been to albert pike quiet and bit and have never ran across that area lol.
That’s the Wolf pen gap trails on the west side of Alberta pike.
@@TheCrayonBrotherhood ive always thought wolf pen was for ATV's only. Can jeeps go down most of the trails there?
@@Kevin90604 there is a hand full of trails you can. I seen a few jeeps out there
@@TheCrayonBrotherhood We are headed up there saturday. I may have to go around and see what trails they still have open.
great explanation bud. I was disconnecting wrong wire from other videos and you did explain amazing. Thanks bud!!!
@@aussie1546 glad it helped
I followed the same procedure you did (on my '21 JT Mojave), but I also replaced the JT's main battery, because the AUX had died and it took the main down with it. HOWEVER, my start/stop system continues to work to this day. It's been about 7 months since I followed the same "disconnect" procedure you've described here. Someone else on YT recommended that I also disconnect the positive cable (from the aux battery) where it connects at the main battery - but, I got complacent & have just been pushing the cockpit button to disable the system. What I've finally decided to do is to completely remove the aux battery, accessing it via the wheel well instead of from the engine bay. I may also add an onboard charger/maintainer to the aux battery box after I remove it. Picked up a NOCO Genius 2D at a good price during the holiday discounting.
@@larryb7047 the only way to NOT have to push the button is get a Tazer is what I’m told. This gets rid of the light and stops killing your main battery.
Successful by-pass, Main Battery now holds voltage. Only issue now is the Air Bag Red indicator dash light is on. Tried disconnecting Main Battery to reboot the system but no help. Hate to take it into the dealer.
@@SteveM-et7hm sorry been out on the trail, did you get it working?
I did the delete on mine also, pulled the battery and fuse and wrapped up the battery ends on the old battery connection and at that main battery. I finial replaced the main battery after a year with a bigger H7 battery.
Great video. Me and two buddies camped at the hideout and did a video there. Super cool spot.
Hey bud I appreciate that, I’m a big fan of your videos so that means a lot. I’ll go check yours out.
Very nice video. Just as a FYI, not all 2021's are like yours. Mine is a 2021 which was built in Sept of 2020 only has the 2 ground cables and the outboard one is the one for ESS. I believe Jeep made a mid model change in April(ish) of 2021 on the 2021MY JT's.
Interesting, I had no idea they changed the setup like that.
Good video! Did this on my 21 JT, reverse camera didn't work afterward. Since the auxiliary battery wasn't dead, I reversed the delete the next day then drove the vehicle than deleted it again and reverse camera started working. Must of took time for the computer to recognize change of current flow?
@@markstebelton5953 oh wow this is a first for me on the camera not working. Did you completely disconnect the battery after the bypass ?
@@TheCrayonBrotherhood No, battery still in vehicle. Its dead now.
Tried this last night on 22 rubicon diesel. I lost my climate control functions, and my radio screen had a blue background. Stayed that way even after I put it back. Hoping it will return to normal after a few ignition cycles. If not, I will try hard reset.
@ hey sorry for taking so long to respond been out on the trail. Did it start working? The diesel maybe wired up different.
Hey so I pulled fuse 42, removed the L shaped terminal, taped it up..everything you did in your video. My Jeep starts up perfectly fine, but I'm still getting the "A!" on the dash with the warning coming up "Start/stop unavailable". Any idea why?
@@shelbotron09 disconnect the positive terminal from your battery. Let it sit for about five minutes and reconnect.
@TheCrayonBrotherhood ah okay. Is this essentially resetting the computer settings? Also, is a voltage of 14.1 normal after doing this?
@ ya it should level back out in the high 13s sometimes in the 14s. It’s just like if you replaced the battery.
I disconnected negative terminal on the main battery and that seems to have gotten the warning and the yellow light off. Seems to have screwed up the infotainment console but that may reset itself. I'll look into it tomorrow. Thanks for your help
I had to go in and set my infotainment system back up with the settings colors and back ground of my likings if that’s what you mean?
Yes, thats what i meant but some of the apps didn't show up. And y XM radio didn't load back. Maybe it'll do better after it sits tonight. Thank you for your help@TheCrayonBrotherhood
Everything is good now. I just had to give my system a chance to reset after disconnecting negative terminal. Thanks for your help!!

@@TheCrayonBrotherhoodwell that alright it was still a good video
Love it! Great video brother!
I've pulled fuse 42 and disconnected auxiliary negative but still have that same message. Any ides?
@@chipforeagle it’s difficult to say without seeing it first hand. Depending on what year your jeep is determines what cable you remove and cover up.
I've disconnected the correct auxiliary battery ground AND pulled fuse 42 but I'm still getting the reminder and that dang yellow light. The yellow "A" with the ! Did you completely disconnect your main battery? I'm thinking this may be needed to reset the computer?
@@chipforeagle yes I did, let me know if that does the trick for you.
@@chipforeagle I still get the warning as well on my 2021 JL. I removed the aux battery from my jeep too.
I actually disconnected my main battery after disconnecting the auxiliary battery and removing fuse 42. After connecting main battery back up, everything worked as it should with NO lights or warnings
Do you still have no issues with your Jeep? I have a '21 Gladiator I Want to try this on
Nope none.
Great!!! Thank you. I'll try this when i get home@@TheCrayonBrotherhood
Did mine so far so good
i have a oven i bout long time ago never used it much great idea thanks
Thanks! I have the 17” but don’t want to screw it on. Does it stay by weight or should I look into other alternatives?
So far I just set mine on it and it’s done just fine. You could probably get some non slip pads just for a back up.
My one year is next month and I'm also thinking of doing a year review video. Good to hear your thoughts and look forward to hitting the trails with ya'll

I just got one of these ovens and have been thinking about looking for a portable smoker. I like the idea of using this as a smoker. I do have the welding felt jacket for it which really holds in the heat but not sure about using it while smoking.
@@thejonc799 the smoking part works ok, it’s not going to be as good as a pellet smoker by any means. But for out on the trail it’s not bad.
