Still inching through the YZ125 engine, it's little worse than I initially thought. But we're taking notes and learning more and more.

After dropping another intake valve and wiping the cam at the Oregon coast, The CRF250R is running again and waiting to get broke in and tested before it goes out to get ridden hard!

The coolant drinking Durango is being put back together after the head being milled around 25 thousands. will it change the timing? only time will tell!

This is not a how-to video! Just the way i did this this time! The exhaust valve shims ended up not needing to be changed! between the old cam and the new one! the intake valves needed a little love though, but not much!

This TRX700XX has been waiting for some attention a long time! She was having a hard time starting but now she won't start at all! Its grunt, cough and pow! out the air box like the timing is out! I guess I'll have to just start checking everything!

How much are Reed valves
They range from $15 to $75
good decision to pull engine apart. It takes one of those shavings wedged into either crank or conrod bearing to seize motor again. I am frankly amazed that cylinder survived.
@fullmetalmachinist3883 I'm really not motivated to pull it apart , but you're right it's the only way to do the job correctly. That junk needs to be totally cleaned out and inspected.

I used to do roofing a long time ago. Just as a helper basically. I never learned to shingle. Quick question. Is those boars the particle wood? Like the wood they put together from the other cuts ? Idk if I'm saying that right . Lol. I stopped roofing in the late 90s. Thanks . You did a great job. We did alot of repairs like that and that was the same reason sometimes.
@patrickfitzpatrick2579 yes, that was OSB. "Oriented strand board." I don't recommend using OSB. But since this was an old shed, It should be OK for a while.
@makeithappen6683 ah ok thanks. I think the OSB was becoming more popular as I fased out of roofing. Those shingles were just coming into Style/Popularity. 😃 I still think they look so cool. You did a great job too ! I saw those and I couldn't remember what the regular looked like. Lol. Such hard work and keeps the roofers in shape. Some days I think I should have stayed with roofing. We used to get temporary employees also and alot would not show also. Or some just for one job. We had a guy start yelling at us because we were getting pizza pies for everyone and he wanted a chicken parmasian sandwich. LOL. We told him we getting pizza and he could pay for his own hero and we would pick it up for him. Lol. He went with free pizza. 🙌 🍕 🍕 🍕 🍕 🍕 We got like 5 pies too for 5 roofers. Anyway. Sharing fun roof time s!! Lol. Really cool show !!!

I would love to go riding, but I'm not sure. I have to go get a pick up from Gig Harbor tomorrow if I have time Saturday. I need to dump the trailer as well.

Be sure to check the cam key as well. I'm not sure how common it is on the unicam trxs, but I've seen the cam gear slip on several YZs and RMZs at this point. Being a degree or two off will drive you mad trying to figure out the issue. Also, just to rule it out, get a pressure tester for the fuel pump. I know you said it'll run fine once it's going, but you'd be surprised. A leak down test wouldn't hurt either. Typically with FI motors, it's either valves or the fuel pump with the occasional sensor (TPS, coolant/air temp) malfunction messing with stuff. I don't know anything about the TRX700XX, but I'm sure there's some sort of diag mode. Check the service manual if you can find one.
At this point, I think it's electronic and not a mechanical timing issue. the ECM is getting the wrong info somehow. but what the heck I'll check it out.
@@makeithappen6683 Not saying it isn't possible, but it's very rarely the actual ECM. There's got to be some sort of diag mode or some sort of error you can see with the flashing on the dash cluster.
@MrCodgedodger the only flashing I got from the - cluster. Was when I unplugged fuel injector.

@joegreer5034 After replacing the starter and stuff, that's the next thing I thought of. But all timing marks aline. Unless it's starting to shear And it's ever so slightly off, then i'll have to pull the flywheel to set my peepers on it. Thanks
I’ve had mine since 08. Had a slow / hard crank once. Inside of my starter was bad. Would still crank but very slow. Not many xx videos on TH-cam.
@karlgellersen5487 The first thing we tried was replacing the battery, relay, and starter . You're right, slim picking on 700 videos.
I say stator as well.
It might have just twisted the keyway off too. But it almost has to be stator timing related.

That's crazy it's been like that the whole time
Check the exhaust valves, some of these had soft exhaust valves and they suck up into the seats pretty quickly especially when ridden hard. Also pulse coil built into the stator, a common problem on Honda FI ATVs, they have given me a lot of grief in the past because they always produce a spark when you go to see if they work or not. And then fuel pumps, doesn't sound at all like your problem but is something that Is definitely a Honda problem.
The pulser has been on my radar for a while, but sense it is Part of the stater wiring. It's an expensive part to buy just get it wrong. I will check the exhaust valves, but since it's popping through the intake, it still seems more like timing issue.
Definitely one of the most sketchy things I have done lol. Putting a block of 4x4 under the frame and jacking it up. Butt def puckered up for a few seconds wondering if she would hold lol. My cheap harbor freight trans jack doesn't have that fancy tilt, I need a better jack lol.
believe it or not that's a harbor freight transmission jack! it's a little wobbly but dose the job.
