Midweek Mumble - Steve tries vlogging ep. 2 | Royal Enfield Interceptor 650
Welcome to my second attempt at this Motovlogging thing! With nothing whatsoever planned, join me on my ride into Salisbury while I mumble on about anything and nothing!
I have a new crash helmet and helmet camera since my last video - so I'm still trying to figure it all out....

Midweek Mumble - let's try this "vlogging" thing | Royal Enfield Interceptor 650

Join me on a video I shot back in the middle of April on my ride to work one sunny, but chilly morning. It's my first attempt at using two cameras, and all the editing "fun" that goes along with it. It's also my first attempt at what could loosely be called a "vlog", so please be kind.... #royalenfield #interceptor650 #sena10c #djiosmoaction3

Join us on our return ride from Stockbridge back to Salisbury, taking in a few villages on the scenic route home - avoiding a BIG puddle at one point too! And me getting upset that I'll get the bike dirty... Apologies for the sound from around 22mins 30ish - I'm not sure what happened, but the Sena 10c started a new file (4GB limit) at that point and the volume on the audio dropped right down. ...

This is the return journey from my previous video, going from Marlborough back towards Salisbury. We chose a different route for the way home, so this ride is along the edge of Salisbury Plain on the A338, passing through the army garrison town of Tidworth. My wife enjoys riding pillion, but was suffering from back ache when riding on the Interceptor, so we thought this cheap(ish) rack from India was worth a try because it had a removable backrest. My Stepson and I went on a short trip last summer to a local bike show that was literally down the road from us! It was a lovely day and try as I might, I couldn't get him to wear protective gear either (much to my annoyance - I know that we were mainly in 30mph speed limits, but that never stops me!). About 4ish mins into the video, my little 1984 Suzuki GP100 hits the 20,000 mile mark too! No...

The sun was shining, so I went for a little ride on the GP100 after fitting a new front tyre. MOT is due next week, the last one it'll legally need as it turns 40 at the beginning of the year. Only covered 100 miles since last year's MOT, so thought I'd give it a bit of a run to check everything's still OK. Think I need to adjust the idle speed though - it's a little bit too fast!

      @@PaulsMotoZen I'm using Cyberlink PowerDiretor at the moment. I was using Microsoft ClipChamp initially when I first started editing. PowerDirector does a pretty good job with image stabilisation of the Sena footage (as the camera has no built in stabilisation), and it seems to work well for what I've been doing with edits etc so far - but I'm always open to suggestions/recommendations!

    Nice helmet and cam deal mate....the evo footage is sweet....audio is pretty good...again the noise cancellation does a great job...it looks like your shoulder is rubbing against the camera when you turn your head.... Ride safe Cheers Kev 👍✌🏍

      Thanks Kev. I'm happy enough with the evo footage and audio. Just a few "teething" niggles to sort out and I think the combination of the DJI and the Sena will be a pretty decent set up for a hobbyist. I think possibly you're right about the camera rubbing. I actually noticed that when I was editing and thought maybe that was causing it. I moved the camera down the helmet a bit from where I initially put it - so that you could see more of the bike in the Sena footage, and maybe that's caused it to be too close to my shoulder now? I think I'm going to have to experiment more with the placement of the Sena on the helmet and find the best place with the least issues. All part of the fun I guess 🙂 Incidentally, on my ride to work this morning, I put a little piece of insulation tape across the jog wheel on the Sena. No beeps whatsoever for the whole 40 min commute!

    mate, I would keep the setup you use now, it gives you all the things you seem to want.....the audio is good, the video is good (for TH-cam)....1080p is adequate for vlogging....once you get up to 2.7 or 4K the files get extremely large, which means more effort in post processing.....plus trying to upload 4k to youtube is insane (unless one has super fast internet upload speeds)...I also use Davinci Resolve when editing, so I know what you go through.....now you have the Osmo, (I have one too), you could also use that as your main video source and just use the audio from the Sena, seeing as you are syncing 2 cameras now....anyhow, enjoy the ride, whatever you decide...there's no right or wrong (in my opinion).... Ride Safe Cheers Kev 🇦🇺 P.S. I replaced the battery in my 10C...was very easy to do....✌✌

    • @stevew9810
      @stevew9810 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks Kev, one downside to the larger files is I don't know if my laptop has enough processing power and RAM to cope with them, but I guess I'd need to try to see. That is definitely a plus side to 1080p for sure! I'm hoping to do some more experiments with the editing and resolutions etc and am sure I'll work out which is best/most manageable for me in the end. Part of the fun of it for me is the editing and seeing what results are achievable with only minimal knowledge. I've seen a video on replacing the 10C battery and yes it does look relatively simple, so that's an option too. That said, I do need a new crash helmet and a lot of stores over here in the UK offer a sizeable discount if you buy an intercom at the same time as the helmet - so IF I am going to replace the 10c, that would certainly be the time to do it!🤔 And we all love shiny new stuff, right? 😉😂

    • @stevew9810
      @stevew9810 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks Paul. Your videos are good quality considering the GoPro you use is considered "old tech" now. My 10c is also "old" too I guess, given that it's been on the market many years now. I bought my Sena second-hand from ebay, partly because I wanted an intercom and partly because I quite liked the idea of filming my rides- but I didn't know how much I'd use it as a camera so didn't want to spend a lot of money on something I'd rarely use. Turns out I use it quite a lot, often just in "tagging" mode so it runs on a three minute loop, more as a "dashcam" when I'm commuting or riding a route I often ride, but I do enjoy filming a complete ride every so often too. I may upgrade it at some point to give me better quality than 1080p, but am unsure whether to stick with the all-in-one and go for a Sena10c Evo, or 50c, or go the GoPro route. The beauty of the Sena is that it can record the audio really well without any extra accessories, including the conversation between riders. Or maybe I'll splash out and get a 360 camera instead, to add extra angles to the footage?

      Hi and thanks for watching! The pillion foot pegs haven't been changed from the standard Royal Enfield location. Just adding this comment - In the video I removed the seat, there's no requirement to remove the seat to fit the rack. In fact, unfortunately, the seat can't be removed once the rack is on without removing the rack. This could be because the Premium Touring seat I have is slightly higher than a standard one - but either way, it's four bolts to remove the rack and can be done in minutes if required.

      Hi Paul, many thanks for the subscription. It won't take you log to watch the videos I've uploaded so far as there's not very many!😂 I'm working on a kind of fitting and review video at the moment for a rack/backrest I bought for my Interceptor 650 - so it'll be the first one that I actually talk on. This is in part thanks to 2 wheeled willie telling me to just go for it and put my face in front of the camera - thought I'd try adding my voice first and see how that goes! I've subbed to your channel too - looks like you're in a lovely part of the world for riding!

      @@stevew9810 You may not have many videos, but that is not what attracted me to your site. First, I look for motorcycle content that I would like. I try and avoid the stunt riders that put the public in danger. Things like riding wheelies, excessive speeding, and anything else which puts the public in harms way. I also tend to skip the channels that have just crashing, and people giving their opinions of what others did wrong, while never mentioning the wrongs they do. Okay, I am ranting again... I also happen to follow 600+ motovloggers youtube.com/@PaulsMotoZen/channels , so feel free to subscriber to any, or all of them. One way to get more subscribers is to post more on other channels that are motorcycle related, and just being active in the motovlogging communities. As for gaining subscribers, I had ten or less the first fifteen years my channel was around. I did graphics, and some short videos, but it was not until last year I started making graphics, intros, and outtros's for motovloggers that my channel started to get noticed. So, recap is that my channel is 16 years or so, and I gained 200 subscribers in one year. It is not a race to see how fast you can get subscribers. Just get out and ride, record whatever, and edit to your liking. Then share the videos you want to see. I am still rambling... Take care Steve, ride safe.

      Thanks for the advice Paul. It's all a bit new to me (the editing side of things at least). The most I've done regarding editing in the past is to just clip and join videos, but I've started playing around a bit now, so may try and get a bit more creative with my videos. I uploaded a review vid for the first time yesterday and it's had more views in the first 24 hours than any of my others, so we'll see how that goes as I get better with the editing etc.
