Thanks for that - it was only after commenting on the original vid that I noticed how old it was. Very quiet sliding operation but I bet it makes the train-driver's heart beat a bit faster on their first crossing! Enjoyed the furry ears occasionally in shot too.😀

Vazon bridge is actually the name of the bridge over canal just beyond the railway bridge next to the house for access to the signal box and farmers fields. The railway bridges name is Keadby Canal Drawbridge and not to be confused with Keadby River Bridge next to Althorpe Station across the River Trent.

Arvind, Thank you for your lovely response. I'm so glad you enjoyed my video. The sound effects that accompanied the video of the machinery working were fantastic but I was bossily instructing my husband about mooring at the other end and speaking over the noise. It was a great disappointment to me to erase the mechanical sounds (which really added to the effect) but I couldn't stand the sound of my voice!! 😀

Thank you so much for posting this. I visited the bridge and its control room in 1998 (work related visit) and the crossing keeper gave me a demo - there were no boats (nor trains!) around. I was awed by this engineering marvel then, and still am today. Thank you. Arvind (now in Perth, Western Australia)
