Thank you! You and me both! Although, my excuse is I can remember many things from the age of a 1 year old such as Western Region steam at Plymouth and the Kent Coast! I suppose the layout is the culmination of a lifetime of railway modelling steam as it's only in the last 4 years my model focus has gone back to my spotting days at Exeter with western region hydraulics and the BR blue-grey period. Mike.
Just prior to Beeching there was a Leeds to Weymouth using class 40/55 this too would have stopped at Yeovil Central had it existed. Still it’s an early diesel to add. And chances are Pen mill was its stop anyway.
That's very interesting and very unusual for those classes of diesel to be seen this far south, I'll keep that in mind as I don't currently posses a class 40 or 55. Mike.

Yes it's me that subbed lol. what a great video, love the 33s used to drive them a long time ago. Where does the sound for the 22s come from?
The class 33 has to be up there as one of the best although I did resent them at first after they replaced my "warships" from the Exeter-Waterloo! Sound for the 22's is DB class 218 being MAN engines, simular to those used in the 22's.
@@miketurton2705 ah yes, well I was Fratton based so headcode 89 was important lol, hey great idea on the engine noise. I had to go Russian for my Kestrel videos.

One of my cameras can produce grainy footage which can add to the overall look and feel.

I love it as it looks grotty and realistic. I am returning to OO gauge after over a 30 year absence and find your layout somewhat of an inspiration. Our eras pretty much align too, I wish to model something in Wales between 1975 (TOPS) to 1990 (pre privatisation). I am blessed with an attic above my garage of some 8.6m x 5.4m with restricted headroom in some parts with frame work already made pre COVID. I remember travelling around Cardiff as a kid and the train at least for me was anything but pleasant. The old DMUs were dirty, smoky and drafty. We could not really afford to travel far by train and trips to Bristol Zoo etc were on National Express buses. The only two times I got to travel on the then new HSTs were on one of the British Rail Tours, Mystery Tours or Specials. I think they were only diagrammed to work weekdays then and were pretty much spare on the weekends. So I got to travel to both York and London (for the Ideal Home Exhibition). Though after saying all this I still love the BR blue period and your layout just brings all the memories flooding back to me. So thanks for sharing your layout with us all.

Thank you, The green Western is D1007 Western Talisman, a Heljan model, runs superbly and getting on for 20+ years old.

Lovely layout and great attention to detail. I’ve recently discovered your channel and enjoy your running sessions. Your layout gives me a lot of inspiration to achieve something similar. I’m planning a layout based on a fictional line and station somewhere on the Weston region from mid 70´s to early 80´s - just to convert the garage before getting started ! Looking forward to more videos from you.
Thank you and all the best on your venture, I found basing the layout on something that actually exsisted (Yeovil Town) and then adding the 'what if' factor gave me something to model which was my era of the Western Hrdraulics and 'Cromptons".

Hi I really liked this before and after video. The layout has really come along very nicely. It's always a great watch to see this layout in action. Do you mind if I ask if this channel and the old Yeovil Central channel on here are done by the same person.......as I remember the original channel stopped creating content and only posting on Facebook a while back.............If it's still the same person it's great to see you back. Wonderful railway! Does the sound card produce the wheel noise for the coaches or was that the actual sound of the coaches going by and clattering over the rail joints? So realistic, whatever it is!
Thank you, probably the dubbed sound track although on my other videos the actual model clicky-clack can be fairly pronounced!

Hey why are 33/0s 2.82m wide and 37s are only 2.71m wide seems 33s are wider than other mainline locos in UK. Do u know?
They're just design variations all within the C1 loading gauge of 2900mm
Hi from NZ. I have just bought a Heljan 33/2 and model the southern region albeit I run a 37 as they are my other fav Loco despite 37s jot running in the Southeast. I will post mine in a video soon. Beaut layout

I think you'll be okay with the Class 37, used to haul oil tankers from the western region via Reading down through Wokingham to the Southern Region in the mid 1980's

Another fantastic video of great WR trains! What's not to love! I'm interested to know where the yellow destination boards I see on some coaches are from? (If that is what they;re called). I gather they were on summer trains for a period? Thanks!
Thank you. The german style destination boards were introduced by the Western Region in the early-mid 1960's, first in maroon then yellow. They were displaced by paper window stickers on the coach doors around 1972-3, available from Sankey Scenics
