It is with the first car base, the one with the bricks on the icon. If you make it full with bricks it gets the highest speed, to my knowledge.

The different sizes do play a role, it is why I use Johnny Thunder's car here instead of Rocket Racer's. But all the different cars do have different base speeds, and the top speed is increased with the more bricks you place on the car. So the car used by the basic character 'Turbo Charger' has low base speed, but it has the most space to place bricks in the builder, so it ends up with the highest top speed. Something which may seem weird is that the car gets less speed from the warp boosts with more bricks placed on it, which is why the car I use on Alien Rally Asteroid, and some others, aren't with full bricks (release the accelerate button right before a warp boosts ends and you should notice this).

I do not use any tools like that, I play on original game from original disc. I do have a program that lets me save ghosts as a file on my computer, however.

@@zahavzilberman3646 It's a program called NohBoard, it is able to display your keyboard presses, and I record it at the same time as the game.

I had seen the glitch on Magma Moon Marathon before trying to speedrun this game, but the others were totally new to me. You should definitively give the game a try, it's pretty fun, though the glitches are only possible on the 2001 PC release and Nintendo 64 version.

@@Corn-Flakes1000 what do you mean "give a try"?)) I've been playing Lego racers since I was like 5!) Though my original disk was lost MANY years ago and my digital version has glitched visuals.

For help with getting the game to work you should join the LEGO Speedrunning discord server ( discord.com/invite/YHYqrvcfRt ), there's a group there just for LEGO Racers that can help you, even if you do not intend to speedrun.

It is only possible on N64 and Windows 2001 release.

The cars you build do have different stats; more bricks placed give you higher top speed and handling, but lower acceleration.

More bricks on the car gives it higher top speed.

I agree, but it seems the cyberscore moderators don't read the requests that often, so I'm not sure if it will happen.

I'm saying this because when I was mostly active in cyberscore in 2010-2011 (I don't play video games often nowdays), proofs were approved within a couple of days, records without proofs were usually deleted in a matter of weeks, and new games were added incredibly fast. Could I be right? Because if so, not much point in submiting records there anymore lol. On speedrun.com/lr there is a leaderboard for Time Races, but it does not have fast laps currently.

If you don't have a coloured brick in your inventory at the section at 0:20, when you press the item button the cannon in the wall will shoot. If you then restart the race the cannonball will open the shortcut while you are at the start line.

I do not know if this works on PS1, I have not played it. I do know it works on the N64 and 2001 PC version.

Thank you very much! In the last two years we've found that you can do the lap skips on every track, but we've only been able to do it faster on Ice Planet Pathway (not in this run, we found out it's faster afterwards. It's also very difficult with the AI opponents), Knightmare-Athon and Rocket Racer. Pressing accelerate and brake at the same time makes it so you accelerate/decelerate slower. So by doing it after any kind of boost keeps the higher speed for longer. Not pressing anything during the warp makes it go further at some places, but for the most part it actually makes the warp shorter. I didn't know it at the time. The reason I didn't press anything is because there is nothing that slows you down in the air. So by pressing accelerate in the air, you're actually slowing yourself down (accelerate takes you toward your normal top speed. When you use any kind of boost, you're above the normal top speed, so accelerating will actually slow you down to the normal top speed). The warp gives you a lot more speed than the other types of boost, if you watch a glitchless run of Desert Adventure Dragway you can see it used to it's full potential.

Thanks, it's one of my favourite games from my childhood aswell. On certain versions of the game (Nintendo 64 and 2001 or later on PC), they made it so driving backwards over the finish does not remove a lap. So you can drive to the first checkpoint (at the door to the shortcut), and then backwards to the second checkpoint (where I use the warp boost), and it will count as driving a lap. It is possible to do on every track in the game, but only faster on about half.
