Bongwater - Free Love Messes Up My Life
The USS Fox got there in early December. We helped clean and rebuild schools. We also did what young sailors fo when they cross the S--- River
Cars on fire are nothing new in Dayton......
Rice?
seasons greasons!
big ole sweetie playing this for Emerald's 100th in NOLA
Such a great song..! Am sure those seagulls agree. ✨🎶
Here come the times of changing tide Here come the days of light and grace Here come the hours of wordless wondrousness Light, light will fill this humble place When you come the stars will shine brighter than spun gold When you come the world will seem shiny and new My mom told me that someday someone like you would come to set things right 'Til you come I'll keep this place ready for you I saw them riding up the road And I swept and scrubbed the stable twice Filled it with golden yellow straw, sweet and clean I did my best to make things nice When you come the stars will shine brighter than spun gold When you come the world will seem shiny and new My mom told me that someday someone like you would come to set things right Until you come I'll keep this place ready for you
Gotta love how Mitch misses his cue and comes in off-beat before the last chorus. Remember kids, all mistakes are deliberate.
you will lie and say im fat
Love this song, just wish I knew the lyrics!
anyone else hear a similarity between this guitar solo and the string sting from Don't Stop Now?
Good ear!
It's that time of year again!
I cant help but laugh about it still.. she always liked Tommy Keene’s version so much better. She insisted we’d listen to this one. I always thought the difference was subtle, but to her it was the whole world. Well shes gone now, probably with someone who wouldnt put this much thought into Alex Chilton at all. But now when i listen to this track i just think of her and all the things I could have done ever so slightly differently.. just like Tommy Keene did
This song was devastating in 1988, and has only gotten more so 34 years later.
This is the best version, such a hard kick
a high kick perhaps?
super nice
There has to be at least a thousand songs in the Bob pantheon that are legit amazing solid. Fucking witch!!!
They are not witches ;(
Great times catching these dudes in Hamburg back in the 90s !!
Best one
went weird, got even better
Oh yeah! Cool
It's that time of year
sublime!!!!
This band is amazing! I saw them once in Chicago. Their albums are ethereal.
Thank you.
This is awesome. I guess it’s the Jellyfish Reflector (LP only bonus track) live version. I have a poor quality vinyl rip but this sounds amazing. Download link?
the best thing jeff tweedy made was talking about that band
Merry Christmas!
one of my faves
I'm here because of Jeff Tweedy.
Me too.
me too... and holy shit, how did this band fall threw the cracks? fucking gold
@@matthewlegermusic agree, likely just ahead of their time. Like if Nivana released Nevermind in the 80s. We'd never know that album. These guys are a hidden gem, can't believe I missed them way back.
Pfff qué fuckin bueno thank god for giving mr pollard a garage
hahah
God bless rock n roll
God damn. I'm starting the band this next month Too many amazing bands And not enough time
Makes me want to walk through that makeshift gate and saunterdown that thicket of a woods
I love Bongwater.
I miss these guys. They used to play quite a bit in Bloomington- Normal when I went to school there in the 80s
Man, I love this record so much.
I missed these guys way back when. Fortunately I stumbled into them. Always a diamond in the rough, if you looked hard enough.
Big B same here. I only discovered them when the boxset with their four albums came out. Couldn't believe there was a band that was so perfect on Rough Trade that I missed.
rattlebag, ah yes, former members of Uptown Rulers. I saw them live back in 80 something. I still can’t believe I missed Souled American with all the time I spent in record stores and they came out of Chicago on Rough Trade. I was big into firehose, dump truck, The Johnson’s. Souled American would have fit right in. After listening to this I’m tripping down memory lane listening to the bands above.
This takes me way back, in the best possible way. Thanks for the upload.
just plain old greeeeed....
This is a great track from their most "normal" album. Too bad there isn't anything from "Sonny" up on TH-cam. It's a doozy!
fiendlybean I am a big fan of Sonny (as with all of their albums). It is a shame they have largely been forgotten.
I have all of them up to Frozen. Didn't they do more? I always felt their sound progressed as they went along, getting slower...swampier. They were absolute favorites of mine.
Absolute genious!!
He sounds so much like Alex here. Tommy Keene passed away November 22, 2017 at the age of 59. RIP.
Glenda McElwee that is really sad. I hadn't heard the news. RIP Tommy.
HOW HAVE I NEVER HEARD THIS BEFORE?
My favorite song!!
This isn't the demo is it? I thought this was the 'proper' version. So many songs got lost during the long gestation for Under The Bushes Under The Stars, but it's criminal that this one has never had a CD release.
Bob would make a killing if he released Power of Suck on vinyl
THEE unsung GBV classic!
great to hear again!
the singing/vibe reminds me a lot of Silver Mt Zion "song for a movie never made".
greatfull for this posst
In love with this band, can't believe I never heard 'bout them before
Best band. So many great songs!
