Thank you for your comment. I put the camera at the top of the windshield pointing forwards. I worry that if I point it up it there will be too much sky. Ill see if I can position it better next trip. Upcoming is a drive from Seattle to Idaho to Banff, then through the Rockies to Vancouver.

I definitely try to cut the stop lights and traffic. I've recently edited it, so there is a bit of a continuous drive, but if that makes it awkward, perhaps I'll only cut it when I come to a full stop. Thank you for the feedback. I'm always unsure when I'm in a city with so many red lights. Easier on long road trips.

Most of this day's drive had clouds and much of it dark, but the spectacular sunset made it special. It was truly stunning.

IKR!? Granted, no traffic, but also no speeding. It is shot in real-time, so yes, that is the time it takes. Also, it is not deep into Bellevue, but on the edge in Factoria.

I agree, but I would need to figure out how to record outside the car for extended periods of time (some driving days can be up to 8 hours). Unless I just put looping ambient sound? What do you think?

I agree that the camera placement can be off-putting, and I definitely agree with your comment. Here are some reasons, and I hope you can tell me if I should change. I'm not too fond of recording the hood of the car. Often, the road trips are in rentals that come in all shapes and sizes. If I point the camera down, I get a lot of road in the frame. So the question becomes, what's better, road or sky? The advantage of the sky is tall trees, buildings, and mountains stay in the frame longer. If it's pointed down, I miss it. I could crop the video, but in some, like Hawaii and Colorado, you get beautiful vistas. On flat lands, there's a lot of sky. Maybe I'll have to adjust based on the terrain. I agree, but some of my videos are over 8 hours long, so that's a lot of music. There are music copyright issues and too many individual music tastes. I'm hoping people can play music on their own to enjoy with each video :)

@@TravelNAmerica thank you for the comments. I'm thinking of mounting the camera outside the car to have sound. The problem is that it needs to be plugged into the power for the trip - especially those 8 hours trips :(

This part of the road trip had the longest straight roads, so it's not spectacular in that regard. But it was fun to see some of the kitschy stuff along the way. Did you notice the world's largest wren at 43 minutes 41 seconds, or the world’s largest Czech Egg at 2 hours 44 minutes and 51 seconds? There is also the world's largest easel, so I guess they had to add stuff to keep it interesting LOL.

I want to revisit these beautiful road trips online again and again, and I am even happier to share them with people who have the same great driving memories as me or want to learn about the place. The New Zealand drive was so good that I want to do it again and also drive the South Island.

not sure when the best time is, but this was the Fall. It was a beautiful time to visit.

It's amazing! The whole vibe of the island is good. And yes! The Jurassic Park series of movies was filmed there :) As well as so many others.

You'll be fine on the major highways (i.e., I-80 and I-15). I can't speak to the last stretch into the Park. That's for another road trip on the list ;)

I agree. I loved Fairbanks. Just the right size, pleasant and all the conveniences. Of course I say this as a roatripping visitor so those who live there and other Alaskan cities will have plenty of pros and cons. But if you are planning to go to Alaska, consider starting, or at least stopping in Fairbanks. Its worth it.

Hi, yes its real time but notice the video is 7 hours. I do cut out red lights and other stops or delays. Good news is there was not much traffic :)

I've driven the perimeter of the US, from Seattle to San Diego, mostly on the 101. Then across Arizona and into Texas. We drove to El Paso, San Antonio, Corpus Christi and Houston, then continued East to New Orleans. All this BEFORE I bought my camera. I'll have to do it again one day. And yes, more of Texas!

I have to agree, it was pretty flat and dry. At least for the most part, it was a nice day and a relaxing drive.

Thank you. I use a GoPro with a 512Gb sd card which allows for a long recording. I then pull all the files into my editing software sequentially. Each file is 4Gb max, but they string together seamlessly.
