As I am AMAZED at this organ. I believe is it NOT the largest organ. That title is still held with Atlantic City Convention Hall. BOTH ARE IMPRESSIVE ORGANS! BOTH SHOULD BE CHERISTED AND HERD BY ALL! The Boardwalk Hall Auditorium Organ, also known as the Midmer-Losh and the Poseidon, resides in the Main Auditorium of the Boardwalk Hall (formerly known as the Atlantic City Convention Hall) in Atlantic City, New Jersey. This colossal pipe organ was built by the Midmer-Losh Organ Company and holds several remarkable records: Largest Organ in the World: It boasts an impressive 33,113 pipes (officially counted, but the exact number remains unknown) 1. IM THE BIGGEST ORGAN

The Atlantic City organ has been converted to solid state and midi controls as sections are being restored. Not sure about the Wanamaker. But being able to program presets for a musical work from the console of this size would be immensely helpful to the organist and allow multiple stop changes with one button push from below the keyboard. Originally presets could be programmed from inside the organ relays by hardwired connections but it had to be a laborious and time consuming task.

Has this organ been updated to solid state controls (Opus)?

Isn't the great stalacpipe organ bigger, it's like several acres... Dude made the cave into an organ, using stalactites...

I got to see this thing in person in its Christmas attire. My only lament is I didn’t get to hear it play, because as I understand it they play it twice a day Mon-Sat.

What an amazing blend of old school and new tech. Not only is it the biggest, it is also the best. Many thanks to everyone involved in restoring organ to its true glory.

But the largest pipe organ has 7 manuals, the Boadwalk at Atlantic city built in 1929. So this one is the 2nd biggest. Or not?

I guess that means I have the second largest organ in the world.

This instrument is a Philadelphia Treasure. I continue to patronize this store , not just for the Organ, and the historical place the building has, Macy’s is a fine organization and place to shop. I enjoy the experience, the quality, and gladly pay retail for it. ( but they often have great sale offers too ) and the commitment and dedication shown in preservation of the Wanamaker organ. You don’t see this kind of commitment much these days on the retail side. .
