Knife ,Tool & EDC Nerd
South Africa
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 21 ม.ค. 2021
Hey everyone. I am an avid Knife, Multitool and EDC enthusiast based in KZN - Durban South Africa. I have a passion for the outdoors, survival and a good day for me is spent hiking the Drakensburg Mountains in South Africa.
I have always had a love for tools, knives and various useful gear that I find myself using everyday. I also subscribe to the EDC idea whereby a person Everyday Carries certain items which they find useful as they go about their day. Everyone actually does EDC something or another even if its just a mobile phone, watch or car keys.
On this channel I will be reviewing various brands and models of Knives, Tools, Multitools, EDC Gear, Torches and hiking and survival outdoor gear.
If you have any tools, knives or EDC Survival gear you would like reviewed, please feel free to drop me an email.
I hope with the information that I give it will help you with making informed decisions on what to get as your next purchase.

Victorinox Swiss Champ Review

A First look at an immaculate older generation Swiss Champ Tool. I have been after one of these for a few years but those that have them do not easily let them go. I do not enjoy the newer models and when I found this one, Snatched it up quickly as I know the value in this tool.

Can you please do updates on the RMA knives from South Africa
Happy to. I am looking at purchasing some more. The ones I had have moved onto new owners.
@KnifeToolNerd Awesome, while you had them what was the quality like in how it preformed? I'm curious because I own 2 currently and still need to put them to the test
I purchased one today. I love the sleekness. Great review. 🙏👏
Maybe I missed it but did you say what steel is used? Kinda important.

SK5 Carbon Steel w/Black Powder Coating, its in the description
How do I find this knife maker? Can't find him on searches online. Cheers
facebook.com/rma.knives
I have one that’s blue but nice karabait
Karambait😂😂
The handle is Micarta not G10. You said in your review it is G10, just wanted to make you aware of it
It seems stupid to me how you kept shining the spot at max next to you feet.
It's an awesome knife. I got the Blue and Tiger Ti models. Still need to get the G10 and plain Ti.
Very cool knife. Good value for money.
Remette Wild Species... Pickled Steel probably had these OEM'ed by Remette. Thanks for the upload!
Believe they come out of the same factory. Pickled Steel brings these into SA which makes them available to us at a really good price point.
The sheath sucks. Get a proper Kydex one, or add a static line to the one it comes with.
How sharp did it come?
It was decently sharp. Could do with a little more edge polishing. Otherwise its usable.
Soo nice need one ☝🏻
It is a really good looking edc folder.
Been wanting to get one to modify for years now, and when I saw that one came out in MAGNACUT steel, I jumped on it. No need to remove the coating on the 1095 original, and it looks gorgeous, but more importantly, it has the the upgraded steel, which I’m hoping will live up to its reputation. The cost was significantly higher of course. It is the BK-82. Micarta scales, a lanyard, a Ferro rod, possibly a utility storage pocket, and a Kydex sheath will further increase that cost, but make the knife.
One day when I'm all grown up ill pick one up. None currently available in South Africa. :-(
I feel like it's missing a sharpening choil. It's going to look kind of weird as that thing gets sharpened down.
its designed for very specific carry style as its meant to be in your front pocket. The two protruding points on either of the knife is what catches it to your pocket so you don't pull the sheath out with it. it needs to be clipped to the far right end of your pocket, pull out towards the back back or to the outside to have the two points catch onto your pocket
That is the most over used and annoying song in history.
Why not test the maximum limits of the throw mode?
- Dieses Messer scheint ein echter Allrounder zu sein, danke für die Vorstellung! 👏🛠️
Music is trash
Just got this a few days ago, and wearing it now. Agree about the sharp pommel. Im also going to chamfer all of the edges of the scales, including the forefinger grooves. After that, it'll be sweet! (I do this with many of my knives) Looks like we got improved belt loops than the earlier runs. Mine smell like leather, and they fit my large leather belt nicely. And it deploys great in reverse grip.
That’s a great idea about the chamfering, I will have to give that a go as well. Might make it even better.
Very beautiful knife sir
Deceptive sheath that looks like it would be a Scandi grind, but it's full flat. Looks like a knife I would carry.
Absolutely amazing knife this. Nice and compact. A great blade if you looking for something different.
That´s a nice one 😊
For basically the same price the Surge is without a doubt the better MT. Gerber’s quality, design, customer service and customer relations are all laughable. The Center Drive is a <$70 tool all day long, how they can ask $130+ is beyond my comprehension. Then again, Gerber does hate its customers and enjoys humiliating them so it kind of makes sense.
Check out Blade Hq , Knives at Knife Center or Smoky Mountain Knife Works they are all here in the U.S.A and the knives cost about $74.99. I don’t know if that helps but I hope it does.
I have the bk 2 and just received the bk2 in magnacut today. The fit and finish is ok the scales on the bk 2 magnacut seemed slightly undersize but that's OK I'm going to get some custom scales anyway and maybe a different sheath.
That must be a really epic blade. We dont have access to some of the amazing blades available internationally so very difficult to get our hands on some of those models. South Africa has an amazing growing Knife community.
@KnifeToolNerd you guys bred one of the best knife makers Chris Reeves.
@@jhonrutger3508 100% agree. We actually have quiet a few amazing knife makers in South Africa. And I am not talking about the import models. Some really really quality stuff.
@KnifeToolNerd I believe it granted I'm loyal when it comes to some American products, however, quality is quality, and I dont overlook that from the states or not. I've got some really amazing knives from all over the world.
Nice
This makes my pickle steel
I have a couple of "cheap" MTech knives and they've surprised me on how tough they are and CA hold an edge a lot longer than I expected. These are beaters that I dig and hammer with that can still cut paper after a full morning of abuse... Hmmm! They do a decent 8cr.
I think their fixed blades are actually pretty well made. Folders, different opinion but a fixed blade is hard to get wrong. heat treat is not terrible on many of the Mtechs. Trouble is no two are the same.
What is the blade length? and what is the handle length ? The blade thickness and weight of the knife 🔪 need a mention. 😮😊
Almost a Bowie/Tanto ( if such a thing is possible).
A "Tawie"!
Any issues with that rubber handle? Thats the part that bothers me most.
I have two iterations of this model and so far, no real issues. As with any rubber it may become weak with exposure to sun etc over time.
That spring on the outside. It's almost like a toy. 😂😂😂😂
You probably already know this, but there’s a smaller version
Can't use a ferro rod with this knife as the spine is rounded so make sure you carry a striker as well.
Thanks from Latvia!!!👌🇱🇻🙂
Thank you too!
Thanks for the review. I just purchased one a few days ago, and it seems very sturdy and sharp. It's apart of my edc kit now.
Good to hear! Very good value for the price.
Double edge clinch pick 2.0 is light years ahead.. The tdi Ka bar is ok..
I've got a few multi tool's and for some reason the super tool 300 is the one i pick up when I'm going to work it's old school and i think its got the best tool's it's all in one place and there is nothing to lose everything is all in one place and i like it for that reason an update video would be good if you still have your super tool 300
Change the direction of the sheath and draw into reverse grip
En francais
I've got mine also some weeks ago. Upgraded to Mikarta.

United Cutlery is a Joke.
That clip sucks. Needs to be on belt with a clip to hold it there Inside the waistband. Nothing wrong with the knife.
I really like the super tool 300 because it's all in one know small bits to lose this is a great multi tool thanks for sharing this video with us maybe you can do an update video of it thanks 👍
What type is the blade steel?
440a
Yes, got one too🪃🇦🇺
Amazing piece of kit. Love mine.
