Pontiac Firebird TransAm Comeback? #pontiac #firebird #pontiactransam #v8 #musclecars
On my way into Menards home improvement store, my wife and I saw what we thought was a new Pontiac Firebird TransAm! My first car as a teenager was a 1971 Pontiac Firebird with a V8 and I thought wouldn't that be a blast to book-end my car ownership life with a new Pontiac Firebird if Pontiac is indeed coming back. I saw the car TH-camrs speculating a few months ago about the Car and Driver magazine full-page advertisement eluding to GM exploring the interest in bringing the Pontiac brand back as well as the Firebird TransAm. So I couldn't help but wonder if this was another gorilla marketing ploy by GM to capture public's reaction...I've known GM to do just such antics in their distant past so it didn't seem implausible.
Alas, upon awaiting the owner to walk up to his car, I inquired about his ride and he shared it was a kit car from a place in Dearborn, Michigan. He didn't elaborate and didn't seem overly talkative so my wife and I deflated, went on with our home improvement shopping. I couldn't stop thinking about it and when we got home, I surfed the interweb to find what I think is the kit once sold to convert Chevrolet Camaros into wannabe Pontiac Firebird TransAms. Definitely not the same thing as a factory-made, Pontiac brand comeback of a classic muscle car but if one has that kind of disposable income then I suppose to each their own. Oh come on GM, you could make a killing if you brought back this classic but also kept it simple, straight-forward and decently-priced but we we know that would never happen and these things would likely be outlandishly-priced like all new cars today...who'd have thought we'd wish for simply owning a new car at all these days let alone what used to be the working man's sports coupe! It just doesn't seem that long ago...Dream-on boys and girls, dream-on...

    Any idea why my belts squeel when I engage the mower? I got this from my mother-in-law after my father-in-law passed in 2018 and it's always done it. 2019, I put on new blades and belts and it still does it.

    • @WorksIRL

      It might be the mower deck spindle(s). They have grease zerks on top into which I try squeezing a few pumps of grease routinely. However, I've heard the grease may or may not even reach the bearings inside. The spindles on our X300 apparently are notoriously loud and often need replacing or rebuilding. Mine has one that's very loud but not "squealing"...more of a "rumble". I usually attribute squealing to a slipping belt on a pulley or sheave. Too much or too little tension from the belt spring (likely too little tension if the spring doesn't keep the belt taut enough). Grease on a belt surfaces of sheave or pulley might also cause the belt to slip and squeal. The other possibility is the PTO bearing driving the mower deck belt directly underneath the engine. It has a clutch mechanism and might be worn out. I've not changed mine, yet, but I suspect it could also "squeal". Good luck and keep us posted what you find out! Thanks for watching!

      Sadly, GM eliminated the Pontiac brand back during the financial crisis in 2008 when General Motors became "Government Motors" when they ran themselves out of business and had to take a U.S. tax-payer bail-out to restructure. Sadly, Firebird last rolled off the assembly line in 2002 so over two decades without the "Screaming Chicken" TransAm grumbling out of the factory. I like the Chevy Camaro but I always liked the front-ends on Firebirds and TransAms better.

      That sounds like a good plan! I was going to use a similar connection to the battery jumper cables from the external battery but the jumper cable's rather large clamps were so unwieldy it seemed like it may be a bit tricky to not accidentally short positive to ground or have the camps pull off as I was removing/installing the old/new battery. I think that's a great idea! Check your user manual but if I remember correctly your Osmo Action4 is water-proof as-is down to 18 meters and 60 meters if you use the protective case. Even though it's already water-proof up to diving down 18 meters under water, I think having that protective case is a good idea in salty ocean water to save having that salt water residue on rubber door gaskets, etc. At minimum, I'm sure your user manual will suggest rinsing it with clean, fresh water after every underwater use. Even used in fresh water I think rinsing with fresh, clean water is prudent as you see in my video even "fresh water" can be a bit "dirty", too. Thanks for watching and sharing your nice feedback! 👍

    I don’t bend the tab because I stack my stands on a shelf in my garage and I stack the removable pieces next to them. On another note, I don’t think I got a notification when this video posted. I don’t know what’s going on with TH-cam lately.

    • @WorksIRL

      I can see stacking them would be a nice benefit of not bending in those tabs. I have a spot in my garage on the floor out of the way and usually carry these around the garage from their support arms so I like them staying in-place. When I post a short, I think I've seen some footnote stating they don't send out notifications for shorts but that may have been awhile ago, now. Thanks for finding it and watching! • @WorksIRL
      @WorksIRL 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@jimmieduncan5671 To cause damage to the 2-stroke engine on a string trimmer, I think you'd have to run it awhile using an improper fuel-oil ratio. When you start your trimmer, you need to turn the choke knob/switch "closed" and after it starts and the engine begins to warm up, you "open" the choke. If you leave the choke closed, the engine can stall out and not start. The other issue may be water in your fuel. Gasoline can "go bad" in as little as 30 days just sitting in a fuel container and even sooner if the fuel container doesn't have a good seal or air-tight cap. Combine that with humid Summer air and condensation in the fuel container on cooler nights and a fair amount of water can contaminate the fuel in the fuel container. If you suspect the wrong fuel-oil mixture and/or bad fuel in the string trimmer, you could carefully pour the fuel out of the trimmer's fuel tank then get some fresh fuel to make the proper fuel-oil mixture. For a 2-gallon container, use two bottles of 2-stoke oil made to treat 1-gallon of fuel. Even with the fresh fuel-oil mixture, the trimmer may sputter as it tries to clear out the "bad" fuel in the line but if you have the choke closed and it starts to run, open the choke (turn it off) and hopefully it'll keep running. Good luck and let us know how it goes!

      Bummer! If you bought them from Amazon, I'd contact Amazon Customer Support and tell them. They should send you another set with keys or at minimum refund your purchase and have you send it back. You could also try reaching out to IssyAuto on their website but I've had decent experience with Amazon Customer Support via their mobile app and/or calling their Customer Support. I hope you can get it resolved. Let us know how it turns out and good luck! 🤞

No chips needed and they worked for over a century and we didn't spare even one thought about them compared to all this "drama" and need for batteries and microchips instead of a simple, easy flat of tin steel. Same with Shorts now) If you use audio from somebody’s short. If owners deletes its content or restricts remixes, your short loses audio track, is only available by link, is not visible in feed or on a Chanel & gets deleted in 30days. You have option to download your short from YT studio, and then reupload with other track. But, video has YT watermark on it🙈. It’s trully a wildcard. I have 15 shorts in this situation)

    So No Motor oil in these things?? Just gas mixture?

    • @WorksIRL
      @WorksIRL 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      No, the "old" 2-stroke internal combustion engine technology has no separate, dedicated motor oil lubrication system found in 4-stroke internal combustion engines. Decades ago, ALL small engines on equipment like string trimmers, lawn mowers and marine outboard motors all used simpler, smaller 2-stroke engines requiring oil mixed to the proper ratio with the fuel to provide adequate piston lubrication. However, these also exhaust more air pollution because of that oil-fuel mixture in the combustion process. Nowadays, even string trimmers and mowers have moved to using 4-stroke engines which have separate motor oil lubrication systems and no longer require oil-fuel mixtures. You have to pay attention to the model details to understand whether they've got 2-stroke or 4-stroke engines.

    • @WorksIRL
      @WorksIRL 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      My first few years into owning this house, I paid a professional irrigation company to blow-out my lines and they connected to the test ports of the back-flow preventer so there are some "professionals" out there that use those. Also, when I first started blowing out the lines myself, I only used the pancake compressor's 6-gallon tank without any external tank and it worked. I simply added the external tank to help give a little more "oomph" to the initial blow-out and it maybe delays the compressor turning on only about 20 seconds. Again, you have to use your own best judgement as this is all very "DIY" and use a professional if you're uncertain. Work safely around compressed air and good luck...keep us posted how it goes. How do you keep track of where the lines are so someone doesn't damage them when digging in the yard 10 years later?

    • @WorksIRL
      @WorksIRL 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That's a very good question! I've already forgotten exactly where some lines are which I moved almost a decade ago. Surprisingly, the professional irrigation company that installed the system 18 years ago when I built my house didn't even provide any "map" or "schematic" showing where they ran the lines, where the nine underground valves are located or spray head placement. Sadly, I thought it was just my builder's poor choice of vendor to install the system but I've not run across any home owner, yet who was presented with any similar plan or locator either. I have my suspicions the "professionals" purposely don't provide such important information so homeowners are required to contact them to come out and "locate" the lines which professionals can do using a "listening" device that helps them identify where the lines, valves and heads are located. Again, that's just my cynical speculation but it does seem suspicious. In my case, I've tried to create a "hand-written" graph paper sketch but I've clearly not kept it updated. I have taken photos where I purposely include background reference landmarks which also helps but again, only if I can find those old photos on my computer hard drive. 🤣

    • @tilu3303
      @tilu3303 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@WorksIRL Thanks for that. I installed our backyard system myself 30 years ago and only have an AutoCAD sketch that depicted where I "intended" to put all the lines and sprinkler heads, but I've had to move a few through the years due to reshaping the yard for trees and a trampoline and only vaguely remember the details of how I did it. Now I'm looking at changing over from sprayers to rotators and wonder if it's such a good idea. The original sprinklers are still working, but some need replacement and they are Lawn Genie, which was a DIY brand Home Depot used to carry that no longer makes any sprinkler parts and they're not interchangeable with any others. Without moving them it looks like I'll just have to replace them with the Rainbird 1800 series set to 12'.

    • @WorksIRL
      @WorksIRL 22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@tilu3303 That's fantastic you put in your system yourself and used AutoCAD to help plan it out! 👏Kudos to you for pulling that off 💪I think sprayers are better as long as they can reach what you want them to irrigate. I find the grass on my extension (strip of grass between sidewalks and the street) which is all fixed sprayers becomes some of my "best grass" with what seems like less "run time." My rotators are so high maintenance because I find they need subtle adjustments as the years pass as I think they slightly "shift" their spray radius and eventually, they need to be replaced and usually en masse! My system is about 18 years old and I've replaced over a dozen rotators in the past few years due to the seals are just full of grit and dirt and break down so water can start to pass through and bubble up around the pop-up shaft. I've not had much maintenance on my zones with fixed sprayers except as the turf/soil has built up and requires extensions to get them higher. Best of luck with whatever you decide and keep us posted what you end up doing and how it works out! 🤞

    Is it ok to drain it completely from the valve underneath or is there some advantage to using the pressure release valve first?

    • @WorksIRL
      @WorksIRL 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      First, following the air compressor manufacturer's manual and recommendations is paramount. In the case of my air compressor, I'm simply portraying the steps the manufacturer states in their manual. I'm speculating the purpose of releasing the bulk of the air pressure using the emergency release valve is a way to routinely exercise that valve so ensure it doesn't seize up which would defeat the important function of that emergency pressure release valve. Leaving the residual pressure at about 15psi to help expel any water in the tank via the bottom valve apparently is good enough at least for my manufacturer's recommendations. Check your air compressor's user manual for the proper method. Good luck and thanks for watching and asking your important question! 👍

I made sure that when I plug the mic in the camera port it’s clicks but still not working. Can you help me with this problem?

    • @WorksIRL
      @WorksIRL 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I'm sorry you're having troubles getting audio signal from your DM-E100 to your Canon R50. I was just reviewing the specifications on Canon's website for your camera to confirm it has an appropriate 3.5mm audio input jack and I see that it does. Is it possible you've plugged the DM-E100 audio cable 3.5mm jack into the headphone jack on the R50? I say that because I did that the first time I used my microphone but was too embarrassed to show that in my video but in hindsight, I wish I had because I was initially disappointed having no audio on my first try of the microphone. If you do have it connected in the microphone jack, I do agree it's important to make sure you orient the jack connector itself to be certain it allows the jack to be fully inserted/clicked all the way in. Another thing to check is the external audio settings on the camera. Maybe the "gain" setting is set too low? I'll look at the R50 manual to see if you have a setting for that but there maybe a need to "enable" the external microphone. I just wanted to reply ASAP and will reply again if I find anything promising. Keep us posted if you find a solution, too. Thanks for watching and congratulations on getting your R50 as I love the size of your camera and it looks like a very promising camera!

    • @WorksIRL
      @WorksIRL 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I was reviewing the R50 some more and under "Shooting and Recording" then under "Movie Recording" and under that is "Sound Recording" which has a "Note" stating under the "Basic Zone" modes, settings for "Sound Recording" are "On" and "Disable". Maybe make sure it's not currently set to "Disable" if you're using the "Basic Zone" or try to set the R50 to a "Manual" setting and then check the settings for Sound Recording to be sure the recording level isn't set so low it's just not recording audio loud enough. If it's still not working, I'd recommend contacting Canon's Customer Support and ask for their assistance in case maybe you've got a malfunctioning camera and/or microphone. Good luck and let us know how things turn out! 🤞

      GoPro HERO5, HERO6 and HERO7 used to come with an exterior plastic cage which had the typical GoPro screw mount hole tabs on the bottom. The GoPro HERO cameras themselves didn't have any built-in mount so they fit inside the plastic cage which had the mounting tabs. Starting with HERO8, GoPro started the design concept of integrating the mounting tabs into the bottom of the camera itself. If you have a HERO5, 6, or 7 then you should be able to get these plastic cages still or at least from 3rd-party vendors as they made many different styles. You wouldn't need the cages if you've got HERO8, 9, 10, 11 or 12 since they have the mounting tabs built-in on the bottom. I hope I answered your question. Thanks for watching!
