I was the gasman for former Nascar team Phoenix Racing for 12 seasons. I'm presenting the history and stories of our team mixed into relevant racing sim videos. (I'm sure I'll throw a some stories of the three other teams I worked for as well as some memories from some 24 Hrs of LeMons races.

Phoenix Racing lined up all the Busch teams on Richmond Raceway's pitroad that night and paddled all their fannies. I attempt to recreate it using Nascar Racing 2003 while recalling some of Phoenix Racing's stories about that race and the things surrounding it.

Something that’s cool about sim racing is that it can allow you to make an automotive fantasy come true, even if you're someone who makes his living racing. Spuds!!! I remember building the fenders for 041 out of 26ga metal. Mannn that sucked. I thought this was gunna be the race Sauter was p3 in cup practice only to hit the curb in qualifying and about miss the show
That was the first Martinsville cup race of 2005. And then the brake heat melted the bead right off the right front tire and blammo, into the wall in the middle of 3 and 4.. It sounded like a bomb went off when that tire blew going into the corner. (we done the light body on more than one short track car. ;D )
Double ought naught two. Funny. And clever.

Spud!!! You gotta do yalls 2005 carquest 300 Charlotte Busch race with chassis 020 fleetpride dodge. Where yall made up 5 laps and did 3 of those under green passing race winner Kyle Busch. That girl was fast! Stupid alternator

Miss you spuds!!! Even though we didn't get to hang out much! Proud to have been a small part of the gang!! And my favorite chassis was 004 and 054!!!!
Great to hear from you. Ain't it wonderful that we can all remain connected tho? Those years with Phoenix Racing were really something, weren't they? I've got a fondness for those two chassis too. We ran 004 at Bristol exclusively for years, and 054 was a hella speedway car.
@@AnotherFineSpudcoProduct yes sir!!! I worked at Wesco from 2003-2008. We nicknamed 054 Fergie because she was hot as the singer! Rcr copied 054 and they won the 500...when we finished 4th.
@@mr.scraps1793, I did not know that. That's cool You know, for a small team, we didn't do too bad in the 500. We took 3rd with Geoff Bodine driving in 2002 (the year Sterling decided to climb out of the car and work on his fender during that red flag at the end). We finished 9th with Mike Wallace in 2003 and then the 4th you mentioned with Mike in 2007. And then we finished 7th with Regan Smith in 2013. Our speedway stuff was usually pretty darn good.
@@AnotherFineSpudcoProduct yes sir and we can't forget 039 from Milwaukee! That ol girl rolled the center!!! I still see reno about once a month and have a beer with him in his shop
@@mr.scraps1793 i just found out from our group text that Matt Hutter is going to be down here in late March to run his drag car at the wind tunnel. I haven't seen the guys in forever, so I'm pretty excited. And yes, 039 was one bad cat.

Had it's highs and lows, like a lot of racing. Some of the personality conflicts were more difficult than usual for me - I'm sure you remember all that going down. But I think we did well with the hand we were dealt. Good group overall for sure.
