I grew up with is recording! The ending piece by Widor is an all time great! Biggs was in another dimension! The best post I’ve seen on TH-cam. Thank you!!
I love this series! Do by any chance have the Civil War album?
I was looking for this album, thank you!
thanks
I owned this vinyl when I was much younger. Brings back memories. I think the large N on the upper left was for Nonesuch Records. Just a guess.
Can a play list be added to give us the composer and title of the selections?
One of the best memories of my childhood was listening to this recording.
I bought this album in 1970 while a student at LSU . Having just returning from Vietnam and finishing my degree in sculpture that I had started before being drafted in the army. I often played this album in my dorm room. Today it is 2024 and I am listening to it again from my bedroom in Rayong ,Thailand after 50 years of traveling the world and now being brought back to that dorm room.
please don't listen to this album on computer or cell phone with tiny speakers. It should only be listened too on a "real" stereo with a decent amplifier and some large speakers.

One of my first records! Such great memories. Thanks for this
MAESTRO CORBOZ IMMORTAL.
Maestro Corboz immortal.
I think this one was a compilation LP of music from other Nonesuch albums.
Thank you so much, I grew up w this record and I wish I still owned it.
Beautiful! The guy himself looks a right toughnut, though. 🙂
Be prepared to possibly laugh your guts up. Peter Schickele is one of my favorite composers. I bought this album early and cherished always.
Thank You for posting this!
At 34:16 in the Procedentum Sponsom track I always wondered about that mysterious voice. Always wondered if anyone else noticed it, it always added to the enchantment of the song
I grew up listening to this album on my parents' hi-fi. 🙂 Our record has a few scratches...especially on side two where it hit the moving turntable as it fell, so this crystal clear copy is such a pleasure to listen to! Thank you so much for sharing this!!! You made my day!!
Beautiful!! Thank you so much for sharing!
Wonderful!
Wonderful!
Cool. Thanks!
Love the slide whistle!
We had this when I was kid, and I grew up on it.
Timeless!
Timeless!
A treasured old family album of my brother and myself. Superb!!
A música policoral veneziana com seus coros em diferentes espaços é magnífica.😊
I love this performance. Yes, it is in German, but there is real grandeur here, nothing rushed as in modern period instrument performances. Plus the soloists can really sing.
Thank you! I remember asking for this as a kid, for Christmas - and getting it! I wish Sony (which I think may have the copyright to all Bigg's stuff for Colombia) - would open its vaults and re-release.
WOW!! Splendid! Gooseboops!
"Bide Thy Thyme!" I have heard worse music from more acclaimed composers @1:28:44
My parents bought me this album when I was in the 6th grade and discovering music. I played it to a nub and it helped shape the rest of my life. Thanks for posting.
I'm a professional organist because of this recording.
Superb ❤
This is awesome and something that should be available for all to hear. It is unfortunate that album 2 is not available. A big THANK YOU to the poster of this marvellous compilation.
Few people have knowledge of Gabriele. I've been familiar with his work since a teenager, but I have phenomenal taste and a Doctor's Degree in music. Jerry of San Diego
Absolutely fabulous!! Jerry of San Diego
Thanks yo u for posting this. I kept hoping Columbia would issue this on CD. AS far as I can tell, this is the only time he released Variations on America
What no comments?!?! That’s a shame as this is lovely.
Magnífico!
Do I remember this album in actual vinyl when it came out 50 yrs ago? I do! Great to make reacquaintance with an old friend. Thanks!
I used to have this on vinyl when it came out!! Not that there was any alternative to vinyl, then. Many thanks for posting. Organ and brass is unbeatable for ceremony and splendor.
I long ago had this album. Thanks for reminding me of it.
This is the second recording that Walter Kraft did for Vox Productions. Together with Weinrich and Biggs, they are the best performances. Please complete the cycle with Vox PL 7802.
Together with Weinrich and Biggs, the best performances. First recording by Kraft for Vox Productions.
