My great grandparents came from Bonmahon to Hancock, MI in 1876.
Just now finding this, my 2ns great grandfather was Denis O'Leary. I know he went to Hancock, suspecting he came from this area. Where can I learn more about the local history?
@@maureenbaker1258 In Hancock there was the Quincy Mine and in nearby Calumet there was the Hecla MIne. If you haven't already you can search for information about the associated mining companies. This could yield some information for you.
My ancestors came from Bunmahon and emigrated to America. Really interesting history.

Hello I'm from Kilmacthomas the neighbouring village to Bonmahon. I'll be going to the Michigan Copper mining area on the South shore of Lake Superior next week. I think some of the Bonmahon miners would have gone there as it was going through rapid growth about then just as Bonmahon closed down.
