JD 3039R PTO Generator Fuel Consumption Calculations
After running my 7 hour run test, I saw the needle on the fuel gauge at exactly 1/4 of a tank left so I ran some calculations based on burning 3/4 of a tank for 7 hours. The average of 7 hours should give me a good idea of my fuel burn rate.
I chose diesel for my fuel because it stores for long periods of time without going bad. In fact I was burning 2.5 yr old fuel in my truck for the last month with no issues or loss in mileage.

JD 3039R PTO Generator overview of how I wired it into my house electrical system
มุมมอง 220ปีที่แล้ว
One thing that I always was interested in was how to wire a generator into my house. When I built the house I had provisions in the design with the wiring hidden in the walls. I later decided to add the other panel board as well so I got creative trying to make the next panel board wiring to be concealed.

My test using my PTO Generator is complete so now I give an overview and change the house back to Utility power.
My IMD PTO Generator on a JD 3039R
มุมมอง 3.1K2 ปีที่แล้ว
This was the first long run test of my house running on my IMD PTO Generator powered by my John Deere 3039R. I discuss some of my reasons for going with a PTO Generator vs. other options as well as how I wired up my breaker panels. I’ll post some follow up videos on how the test went and more details on how I wired my panels.

Many thanks. I live north of Houston and have been looking to do the same thing. My problem is finding an electrician who understands what I'm trying to accomplish. This setup makes a lot of sense but apparently isn't very common.

I made a speed increaser for the pro so the tractor runs 1/2 speed. If you need a lot of power take it off and rev the tractor up. Saves fuel

Do you have a link so I can see your speed increaser?

Are you still happy with the generator? I am looking hard at this type of setup. I have a Kubota LX cab model and thinking a pto generator may be the way to go.

I love it! I would do it again in a heart beat. You leave the tractor running for 24 hours and no problem but get a gas generator running at 3600 rpm’s and read the warranty fine print, you’ll find you are not supposed to do that, that the engine needs to rest every so often. Plus you don’t have to have another engine to maintain and you do run your tractor so no separate engine to test.

Thank you for sharing your set up. I am looking into a PTO generator for my 3039R as well. Mind if I ask you a few questions? How many hours do you get of run time on a tank of gas? Is there anything different you would do with this set up? Thanks again.

Feel free to ask away. If you need to talk for more questions I don’t mind. I never ran the tractor more than 7 hours, I estimate safely 8 hours runtime based off 7 hours and more fuel left in the tank. With a really heavy load maybe less but I haven’t done a long heavy load yet. No I’m really happy with it. I was posting my setup before I finished. I still putter with improvements. I’m putting a steel plate as a cover over it to keep the snow and rain off it. After build my garage I’ll have an awning to park under. I still have some cheap LED meters and current transducers to mount in it so I can have a wire come out of the generator and go to a plastic box to set in the window sill so I can monitor it without going outside. That’s only needed if I lose internet and can’t see my cloud based meter in my breaker panels that I installed. I did all this so if I’m not home it is easy to have my wife to monitor things because she is not electrically savvy. Oh, set your pto genset at the right rpm speed just above 60 hertz, like 60.5 or 61 hz, then press you Auto Speed control. It will maintain your voltage and frequency beautifully. Let me know if you have any more questions. I can get you a price on the IMD PTO generators if you need one. I liked them so much I became a dealer.

I use diesel as well. I could do propane but it would be the only propane item I own.

Hi Greg, I would spend a few dolars on getting a water tight connector, pennywise, pound foolish. A nice steup, recently bought a 10kw pto winco generator for my Kubota BX25d tractor, also have a Generac 15kw gasoline portable generator which is a little expensive to operate at current fuel prices.Hopefully the power does stay on, but only time will tell. Good luck.
