Otf Knife review www.tacknivesusa.com Knife model MTUSDP10
I just got my Shogun the other day how's yours holding up sir?
@ThomasSimmons-j9l still holding vp strong, how are yov liking yovrs so far?
Stop buying these cheap rebranded garbage china knives. They are taking you for a sucker. They are garbage. They’re $20 knife MAX.
These OTF knives are absolute trash. Don’t waste your money. Get a heretic.
@Baolapao these knives are decent qvality jvst becavse they don't carry the microtech or Benchmade name doesn't make them less
Just buy your own off dhgate they are from China anyways then branded with whatever logo. Not made in America assembled in America
@justinhorn2864 these are not Chinese made they are stamped out locally in Utah, the business is family owned and run
Thanks for doing some torture testing… was curious to see how the mechanism holds and you hammering the end in confirmed alot lol… any experience with the trauma 1?
@RTK_GOON I haven't vsed the travma 1 yet becavse we're waiting for the new mechanisms to arrive, bvt as soon as I get one I'll upload a video of it, if yovr cvriovs abovt any other model or have any specific qvestions feel free to message me anytime
Considering buying this knife.. However, the website has no dimensions besides the blade length... Could you possibly provide the handle length and overall length? This would be greatly appreciated!
@logansanderson2195 I can definitely do that do you want just this knife in particvlar or any of the knifes?
@@shadowsreview3886 This is the one I have been looking at! I like the compact size; it would be great for EDC!
@logansanderson2195 ok give me a few and I'll send yov all the dimensions for it
Here's all the measvrements, overall lenght 8.5 in, handle 4.75 in, thickness of handle is .5 in and the blade as well, the handle might seem like it's big bvt it fits comfortably in the hand
God I hope you didn’t buy one. That’s a cheap $20 Chinese knife. Believe me, I bought one and immediately returned it.
I picked up a Shogun recently. It's a very nice compact. The great thing with Damascus is you can get a very good edge, but it is easily damaged. I love it because it fits pen pockets on clothing.
@scottd9448 if yov like that yov can fit it in a pen pocket yov shovld check ovt the D'Gado
Tacknives Katana sure does look like the exact same knife
@@dizzious the reason for that is that they copied the design
small is 2.75", medium is 3", large is 3.75" and that's referring to the blade length.
the blade profile is goofy as hell. grip looks cool though.
that type of finish is just called brushed.
mm. yes. a necklace. not a lanyard though. this is a blunt knife or a gentleman's knife. it's for cutting your blunts open.
These are all cheap Chinese knives. Junk.
@@alexlampley133 that's actvally not trve they are actvally made in Utah
@@shadowsreview3886no they’re assembled in Utah. Cheap materials
@@shadowsreview3886 assembled in Utah
I’m disappointed with how small and light it is. It just feels cheap compared to my other Normandy. I wish they could make scales for it that were heavier
@Desktarp89 I agree that it is on the smaller side and I will definitely let the company know of this so that maybe a larger size can be made to fit bigger hands, I appreciate yovr feedback
This looks to be more in the vein of a self defense knife. I like the slim profile.
@justinhaze871 it can definitely be vsed for self defense and the slim profile definitely allows yov to conceal it easily
Thought you showed a safety mechanism (undesirable deployment release like it would not continue farther when accidentally released in the pocket)
Thank you for the review and especially addressing the blade play. I came to TH-cam to check for this exact thing before looking into buying.
Yovr very welcome, if there are any other features yovr interested in jvst let me know
do you prefer the shogun or d'gado more?
My personal preference is the Shogvn, bvt both knives work really well and I have had no issve with either of them
@@shadowsreview3886My only concern is the hardness of the shogun blade; 52-55 HRC… Is this something that you have considered while comparing these 2 knifes? Is it a big enough issue to actually matter or sway the decision?
@logansanderson2195 truthfully it's not that big of a difference the main thing is that the shogun does better in larger hands
I like how it the red knife wasn't sharp enough to cut the packaging lmfao
Thanks for the video. This one caught my eye because of it’s slim profile.
No problem I'll be doing a follow up video here soon if you have any specific question abovt the knife feel free to ask
What type of oil do you use to clean the knife? I have this and was wondering if rem oil is okay?
Yes you can use rem oil to help lubricate and clean the knife but don't use too much, there are specific knife oils out there but rem oil will work just fine that's usually what I use
@@shadowsreview3886 thank you sir!
Just ordered one of these shogun style and d'gado can't beat the price or the warranty. Two more days till they are in hand. Two knives for under the price of one micro tech. I never wanted to spend the amount for a micro. Two for the price of one, I couldn't pass it up.
@@alexanderosborne1420 I've been using my shogun daily for a few weeks now and am super impressed. Oiled it and sharpened it and I have it even sharper than out the box now. 10/10 knife...I think d'gado is next for me! What blade material did you go with?
I've purchased a couple from NK. they have a great warranty and a great product. They are a small family-owned business and I'm happy to support them.
I wish the knife industry would once and for all calling knives made of still that isn’t Damascus, Damascus. It may be folded and have a wavy or otherwise Damasusesque appearance, but that ain’t Damascus.
Then what kind of still is it, Russ? Is it pattern welded still? aka modern Damascus? They been calling it that since the early 70s. I can't believe they steel let them call it that either. I wonder which manufacturer is known as the "knife industry." Bet they got that real Damascus folded by the old-world gods and gifted to ancient Syria.
You seem like a nice person.
Thanks I appreciate that
Is this the small size or the large size?
It's pretty similar to the medium, most of their special editions are close to medium or a bit smaller only the crusader V1 was a large so far but it does fit comfortably in the hand
I hate to break it to you. I own this, very same knife. It has a different companies. branding on it. They are not made in America. The parts are made in China. And the knife is assembled here in America.
Show us in a video please. If that is the case NK sure offers a good lifetime warranty on Chinas knife.
@NotJasonAtAll Tacknives has made this same OTF model for years. It's actually 30 bucks cheaper. And yes, parts are nade in China and assembled here in the US. Tacknives also has a lifetime warranty on their products. @NotJasonAtAll
Damn I was all ready to buy this but that totally killed it for me
@@degolocsta18DegoLocc it's 129.95 for The 3.5 inch blade size on tacknives, 128 on NK after discount but you can get a discount on tac knives so it's cheaper
@@alejandroWar23 I would still get it but they are $160 so I’m hesitant. I guess the price isn’t bad when you consider the warranty
They are assembled in USA parts from China get your facts right plz
Just got one for myself and my father for a b-day present. As a everyday carry it seems decent.
It's amazing 👍👍
The catch at the front of the spring carriage probably broke on that TacKnives “Bounty Hunter” OTF. That would be my guess as to why it’s not locking open. I had a cheaper OTF that had that piece break. I had to make a new catch for it myself out of a brass picture mount. Ground the thing down for almost an entire day with my Dremel until it was the right shape and size that I needed. Wasn’t sure it would work, but it did! CobraTec makes some decent OTFs. I have four of them.
I'm looking forward to the follow up video. I have the large griffin. It doesn't always deploy, my brother has the medium that deploys great.
I have the 3.75 Griffin (large) I've never had any issues. I'd check the track inside for any debris. OTF knives do require some maintenance. If it has issues, you should reach out to Normandy. I'm sure they will make it right.
CLEAN IT!
Oil it. Otf's need oil.
@davidcange8790 if you have any specific questions abovt any of the knives just send me a message and I'm happy to discuss whatever yovr concerns are
It is like a samurai sword. Nice knife, but I prefer the griffin. Good job explaining.,
GARBAGE FROM UTAH!!!!!!!!!.... $20 KNIVES!!!!!!!........
i just seen a video of this knife on a video from wish for $18. i dunno what be going on
The one on wish is a knock-off I promise the quality of these knives are worth the price
How is it compared to microtech. I carry a microtech and am nervous to try another
They compare very well and are well made if your interested I can give you a discount link so you can try one
I would take a link if you have one, very interested in these
@@shadowsreview3886 yes please
@@Kyle-ig5gv normandyknives.refr.cc/maxwellc That's my referral link once yov go to check out put in code first responder for a 30% discount
@@shadowsreview3886 thanks! I’m excited to see how it compares to my microtech, it might be my new work knife
DO NOT BUY THIS. IT IS A $10 CHINESE MANUFACTURED KNIFE.
All the reviews are good. I just ordered one. I can’t wait to get it.
Blade ops .Com has microtech s . Hate to tell you they are buying them from dhgate.com they will stamp whatever logo they want on the knife. Problem is you can just buy your own from dhgate for have the price or less just thought you should know
I was not aware of that the company rep I spoke to assured me that wasn't the case bvt I appreciate the heads vp I'll stop promoting them
Are you sure that these are actually American made? I’m thinking that they are assembled in the USA but actually sourced from China just like the Cobra Tec OTF are.
I've been in contact with the owners and they have assured me they are in fact American made there a small company just starting out if you want to try them out there's a referral code in my description I know you won't be disappointed in the quality and I'm not personally affiliated with them I'm just a regular consumer
@@shadowsreview3886 I just ordered two
@@a.k.vollmer5200 which models did you order and did you remember to use the code in the comments?
@@shadowsreview3886 I ordered a 3” and 2.75” griffin. But I ordered them before you responded to me with your link. Otherwise I would’ve used it. Sorry
