I see why Schaffer had to replace Barlow. Matt is in over his head here and he struggles with the range a lot. If he was handed these songs as they sound on the album, I see why he wanted out. I played Glorious Burden after Something Wicked the other day. Something Wicked is much more bassy, the songs must be in a lower key.

Yeah I know, I have commented before but can you find anyone with vocals like Barlow that can hit that register that doesn’t have a falsetto like Ripper? Barlow simply sings this balls out in his range and talent, doing it to the top of his register, period, the end. Magnificent work and will always respect Matt for this full on vocal performance complimenting a falsetto guy (love you Tim) and nailing it!!!!’🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

Been watching this for years all these years.......Barlow let it all go for this show knowing he didn't have any upcoming voice to save....he even pitched a little sharp at times to show that he could hit Ripper's notes and then some. Well done and love me some Troy Seele....

In retrospect, I wish Matt hadn't come back to Iced Earth. He sounded like he was happy in Pyramaze and Immortal was a great album. Then The Crucible of Man came out and the passion just wasn't there. The magic that was evident from Burnt Offerings through Horror Show was nowhere in evidence. Stu Block has carried the torch well for Iced Earth. Matt Barlow is possibly my favorite singer of all time (it's between him and Bruce Dickinson, anyway), but I want him to be happy and I don't think he was happy in Iced Earth anymore.

Every time i listen to Iced Earth, i imagine them playing at the top of Mount Olympus... with the tides rising... cities burning... Viking war ships crashing against the rocks... naked women climbing their way up the walls of Olympus... begging the warlords of metal to take them in. The skies opening as Thor himself comes flying down, bringing the lightning and the fury of the gods. Battling the serpents and the dragons that reign fire upon the world. The power of the vocals and the instruments coursing thru Thor's mighty hammer as he smashes the threat to human existence.
