1989 BMW 325i This was my final and fastest run with a time of 58.416 1 cone.
Can't hear a word the guy is saying but I can tell you the diagnosis isn't that hard. Check compression (and valve adjustment) then check ignition, then check for intake leak. (usually the rubber boots on the intake manifold) Should be able to find the problem in an hour or less. Fixing it is another story. Of course after 50 years of working on these things I can tell you a lot just by hearing it crank over before it starts.... but I am not there!
Thats cool
I had the same problem and nothing on here explained it . I have found the problem and it was a intake leak at the base of the manifold . This was determined by spraying brake kleen around the gaskets head to manifold and manifold to carb i have two 36 delordos . i can see this is the only answer to the imfemiss miss everyone was having a problem with . Hope this helps
Is the bike still available. .?
Having the same problem with mine, Ordered new spark plugs hope it fixes it.
Hey mate?, are this still available now?
Looking to get one of these GLIs with a turbo. Was it very reliable for you??
It was for me! The only thing I had to do was put in a new clutch around 120,000 miles. The slave cylinder went bad. Some of the old evap system hoses needed to be replaced as well. But overall a great car.
How much did you sell this car for?
@@forrestdavis3186 hey I have a O4 VW Jetta 1.8t GLS & My car was slipping when I accelerate is it the clutch or low transmission fluid? It has 160k+ miles

Check your rubber intake boots for vacuum leaks.

did you figure it out?
Rubber seals on the exhaust manifold cracked and leaking air.
no intake is the issue
I'm having the same issue. Any luck finding out what it is?
The rubber seals on the exhaust manifold are cracked or maybe loose and air is getting in.
awesome skiing.
For the future it is better to take off the ht leads from the distributor this way the arc is much more controllable
The number 2 spark plug is burnt
this is what i have on my 1300 tp
