Porsche Boxster 987.1 2.7 engine oil and filter change
Carrying out an oil and filter change on the Boxster.
Recommended every two years dependent upon mileage. The car has only covered around 4000 miles over the last two years but as the oil degrades, worth doing!
The Boxster is really accessible for getting to the sump and oil filter but using the Kwik Lift does help.

Barrington (and other makes) watch winder motor/ gearbox replacement
มุมมอง 884 หลายเดือนก่อน
Watch winder recently stopped working, power light was on but no movement. Got this from Barrington approximately 8 years ago and it had been working fine, although has always been nosier than expected. Called Barrington and was advised that I could either send it back for a new motor to be fitted or buy one and fit it myself. I chose to buy the motor and fit myself to avoid having to post my w...
Kia Sportage 2013 1.6GDI (Petrol) stop start battery replacement
มุมมอง 1574 หลายเดือนก่อน
Replacement battery install on a 2013 Kia Sportage 1.6 GDI (Petrol). This car has stop/start and has so a AGM (Absorbent Gas Mat). There are various brands you can get, but I decided to go with a LION brand which seems to be a mid range battery with a 3 year guarantee. We’ve had the car since new, so the original battery has lasted just over 10 years, not too bad I’d say.

Porsche Boxster 987 (also 997, 911 & Cayman) bonnet, frunk strut replacement

Changing the front two struts for the bonnet or frunk. The bonnet was not staying where it should when open so the struts needed to be replaced. I have already replaced the single rear boot or trunk strut but did not video that, however the process is the same, just a shorter strut for the boot.

Gave this a go after suffering a windscreen chip on the motorway. Really wanted to avoid having a new screen and therefore aim was to get the existing one repaired as quickly as possible. Porsche Boxster 987.1 - Removing rear arch liners and cleaning the dirt trap

I didn’t originally plan this video as the purpose for jacking the car up and removing the rear wheels was to check access to the coil packs and spark plugs and to verify which brake discs and pads the car had before ordering new discs, pads and sensors. Once I got the drivers side arch liner off I found dirt that had got stuck on over the past years and also a small bit of rust on the nuts and...

Video of our family day out to Woburn Safari Park in Bedfordshire in early August 2020. A great day out and no issues with social distancing as you’re in your car and there was plenty of space in the car park area for picnics. This video was an immense help and I was able to correct the problem in minutes. The tip in an earlier comment to put a cloth under the elastic strap to prevent losing the screw was a well advised tip.

Thanks for the help! I did mine with a safety pin on the cloth side, which allowed me to easily tighten it up when I found it going wrong about 1 in 4 tries. Elastic needs to be just under 4" from the bolt to the cloth, so a total of 5" works.

Great video, thanks. Clear and concise which allowed me to get the job done with the minimum of fuss. It's a bit of tight squeeze to get in there but punching a hole in the elastic beforehand with a leather punch then quickly melting the edges to stop fraying made it easy to hold the screw in the hole. That reduced the chances of dropping it in the depths of the hood - not recommended! The first one took me about 30 mins following your video but the second was about half that. If you have a long flexi grabber or magnet to hand it might help just in case something falls down like the T10 bit or socket. Failing that, a bit of blu tack to hold the T10/socket on gives a bit of security.

Little different on the 986. That side piece of trim is very difficult to remove. Cause it has a micro switch for the roof on it. Just set it to the side. Nothing to unplug either on the 986.

Thanks Great job. For the record, you don't really need to remove completely the T15 screw ( mine is also an 987 ) since it's a pretty tight space to put it back + you don't want to drop it. An elastic with button holes can easily be hooked over the t15 screw in one of the button holes + button hole elastic gives you some kind of adjustment for the future whenever the elastic will loose it's stretrch.

Very useful video, thanks. In my case the elastic still seems okay so I'm going to try adjusting the length by pulling it up one or two holes on the Torx screw. The tool you use to access the Torx screw looks really useful in the confined space. I need to get one of those.

@@Just_Rav So helpful, thanks. The key phrase was 'Torx bit on a mini ratchet.' I've just ordered one. I'm on a fast learning curve with this car, never having attempted any car maintenance before. So far I've use a Trombone cleaner to clear the drains and replaced the bonnet and boot opening switch. The elastic on the hood is next, then the plastic ball joints. I'm learning.

Hi, if you look at video 1 of the removal at 2m 40s I explain how I removed the trim. You need to put one hand on the top corner closest to the roll bar and gently pull forward, the top clip will come away, then move your hand down approx half way and repeat. Then do the same on the opposite side closest to the door. Once loose lift up straight as there is a long plastic tab that goes into the floor. Hope this helps and thanks for watching the videos!
