Ghent, Belgium (Day 5)
This is day 5 of our trip to the Netherlands and Belgium.
We did a day trip to Ghent from Brussels. Ghent is a historic city located in the Flanders region of Belgium. It takes about half hr to reach from Brussels Central station by train.
Known for its medieval architecture, scenic canals, and lively cultural scene, Ghent seamlessly blends old-world charm with modern life. The city’s highlights include the majestic Saint Bavo’s Cathedral, home to the famous Ghent Altarpiece, and the medieval Gravensteen Castle, which is where we started our day.
Places / Activities:
- Gravensteen castle
- St. Bavo’s Cathedral
- St. Nicholas Church
- Boat Tour
- Trappist beer tasing
We then returned to Brussels and visited:
- Royal Gallery
- Grand Place
