Zag Grey met haar band in de sfeervolle Thiemeloods. Wat een wijf! Topband ook. En na het concert gewoon nog een meet & greet & hug met Grey DeLisle en band. Die bassist had net als in het sublieme Johnny Cash lied, thirteen, 13 in zijn nek getatoeëerd. Toen ik hem daar over aansprak, kwam er een toch een verhaal los: diep tragisch & toch weer mooi, zo puur. Niet alleen topartiesten, maar ook fijne & mooie mensen.

I am an American, a baby boomer born just after WW II and I’ve heard stories of bravery not just of the Americans but of every nation struggling to liberate German invaded European countries. So I have such a deep emotional respect for this kind of celebration for honoring those in the past who showed bravery in any conflict on home soils or far away. I can see that if I was a soldier at Edinburg Castle standing for my country and physically and spiritually exhausted the bagpipes and drums would stir in me an energy and spirit to do what honored warriors of the past were inspired to do by sounds like this. August 2025 we are doing a cruise and will be in a position to see this wonderful thing. I hope we can get tickets to the event so that I can come back to America and live my life being deeply touched by this event honoring such bravery and sacrifice. I don’t know why, but bagpipe music makes me cry….probably because the most stirring pipe music I have heard performed in America has been at funerals with a bagpipe playing Amazing Grace.
