I always hoped it would come back like Dallas. That Margaret would wake up and he’d be downstairs causing mayhem, she’d go down and then tell him she dreamt he was dead and he’d go utterly ballastic. Thing is they’d have got away it - unlike Dallas which was total nonsense

I often think that One Foot would work just as well today. There is far more stuff in todays world that would rile Victor I think. But it also ended at a good time. It always surprised me that The Meldrews were supposed to be in their 60s. Yet todays equivalents could easily be mid 80s.

I was devastated when Victor died -and it still upsets me to think about him lying there alone. I was one of those viewers who enjoyed & identified with his curmudgeonly ways. Great acting & great production for sure, but I think you all underestimated the shock of Victor’s death on viewers & that we would feel grief for him. I bawled my eyes out at the time & it still makes me sad to think about it. 😢

Absolutely loved Annette Crosbie in this role, how she ever put up with being a wife to an insufferable husband, but then Victor wasn't always that way. My poor sister was married to a man that none of us liked. He recently died and my sister was finally out of years of torment. Annette appears occasionally in other series, excellent actress.

Victor wasn't insufferable though.....he didnt moan for the sake of it, unfortunate things happened to him and quite rightly got pissed off especially with the insufferable people around him. One of the best tv characters ever!

@@obren1 I would say, that was his charm, and his reactions to certain situations were interesting, as he didn't over dramatise them, if anything, underplayed things at certain times. The biggest reaction I can remember, was when he was desperate for Victor to do his Vent act in the variety night.

  • @gerv55

Really did not like the final episode, no Patrick or Pippa, no Mrs Warboys, no Nick Swainey...i'm not entirely sure what the thinking was there but it seemed really weird to have all these characters for 10 years then just not have them appear at all in the finale. Final episode had some good moments, especially the ending where you for once see all the stuff Victor rants about that happened offscreen, but to not have the rest of the cast in the episode was really strange, and short sighted in my opinion.

i was 17 when i first watched one foot with my mum but then have gone on to be a longtime massive fan i watch it every night before i go to sleep (i kid you not) i say most of the lines and my partner says to me you should go on mastermind all the lines you know and episodes my fave episodes are series 5 episode 1 which was a christmas special but was not meant to be i do not think called the man who blew away and one of my face special episodes was the wisdom of the witch love that one but i just love all the characters from victor and margaret so glad she never got together with ben in warm champagne that would have been wrong but to go home and find another much older woman in her bed was comedy gold when victor says " i thought is was you" haha so good but love the fact nick swainey was kept in it from episode one when he though victor was in the granny annexa haha to when they moved in and he says i came round and you told me to piss off haha so glad the character was kept and owen plays the character so well i would just liek to say thank you for making such an amazing show i would like to know however are the stories true about the original house that the couples who owned in would not let you record there anymore that was why location was changed ? i would love to visit the location from when they moved out of the oriiginal house to the newer properties i think i caught on some behind the scenes that the scenes outside were sometimes paintings renwick said did you film at them houses much or was a lot in the studio rather than on location? i could talk about one foot all night and would like to know a great deal about it still hopefully you see my message and reply back to me many thanks to all that you all did for us to enjoy and watch. kind regards.

I would have preferred a different ending. Something in line with his character. Like someone leaving a manhole cover up and he falls in. Or or him shouting at the roofers and they throw a tile at him. I just think it was too sad killing him off like this. He needed to be in full flow Victor mode.😊

@@louiserowland9940 While I somewhat agree that it was a shame that Victor was killed off, I kind of liked the cruel irony of his wife accidentally meeting his killer along with the hint, the suggestion, that she finally saw his point of view on the world. And then there was the possibility she would pick up where he left off. Does she or doesn't she " get her own back " for what his (at that point) unknown killer? After years? After decades she finally understands Victor's point of view.
