I don't find the acting of Frederick and Bach convincing. Almost like the movie was written for modern anti-hierarchical audiences. Frederick would not have been this infantile. Sure, competitive most likely. Also likely not wearing a hat indoors as that was (and often still is) bad form. Bach would not have been so forward. The older movie was a much more convincing scene for these two meeting for the first time.

That is not a fortepiano we hear him playing, it’s a modern overstrung concert grand, and I don’t know if J.S. Bach would have liked it. Nor would Mozart. The later instrument was for music of the Romantic era; too expressive for Baroque and Classical tastes. The true fortepiano sounds tinny to our ears.

Não canso de assistir a esse pequeno trecho da vida do grande mestre Bach, onde ele mostra toda sua genialidade e coloca o nobre que achou que ia conseguir colocá-lo em xeque com um tema musical o qual de imediato o mestre criou uma obra prima 😂 A cara do esnobador ao ver o tema crescer em contra pontos maravilhosos bem diante de seus olhos é impagável. Lição de humildade!
