    This film aroused my memory in PTS in 1981 when I was 18, I left the force in 1989. I still remembered I almost cried when I marchrd off to Kwai Ho Bridge. I missed the old day and my CI, ACI and my classmates, why i never meet them in street. I missed the rifle303 though it was very heavy, especially we were punished to hold it up to do mark-time. Really want to know which stupid guy decided to stop drilling with rifle and change our police smart uniform into one that worn by security guards.

    • @kim-shinglee1086
      @kim-shinglee1086 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Totally agreed with you. As an ex-police officers we all missed the old day spend in the RHKPF. What a golden memories in our life of which even occasionally arose in my dream for the last 35 years. I joined in 1984 and left before the changeover in 1997 for personal reason. I still worked in the government and possibly retired in the next few years. Being a police officer is the most wonderful experience in my life. Proud to be a member of the Force.

    I have done my fair share of drill on a Canadian parade square from a rank & file, Sgt Major and Parade Commander point of view to know that THAT voice lacks authority, motivation and drive. That voice probably can't flag a taxi if his life depended on it. There *IS* such thing as a bad Sgt Major. Maybe he lost his edge after being automatically commissioned after joining the RHKP :) You know them officers :) Good show by the ranks though. Good work.

    • @alvindurochermtl
      @alvindurochermtl 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm surprised such verdict and comment would come out of someone who supposedly have so much experience. Having a bad voice is one thing and this might be due to age and voice box injury, but you obviously haven't been in the field with him and I don't think you are in the position to know anything about his leadership and character to conclude he was a bad Sgt Major on the basis of his voice. Bad NCOs do exist I will give you that, but not likely with a regiment like the Scots Guards, especially when this man wasn't just any Sergeant Major but an ex-RSM and eventually GSM in Hong Kong, and considering especially that back in his days the SG had more than 1 battalion of men and the regiment should have no shortage of choices to choose from. Bare in mind also the British Army has an All Arms Drill Wing to make sure all SNCOs are up to standards whereas you in the Canadian Army have not. I'm ex-Canadian army as well, have worked closely with Brits on ceremonial fronts, and have served on both sides of the ranks. Judging from the many Canadian Army parade videos on TH-cam, I don't quite think Canadian vets are in the position position to criticize the ability of this man at large.

      Willie Fullerton was one of my instructors at the Guards Depot, Pirbright. Excellent drill instructor and good words of command., typical Scots Guardsman. Our Canadian friend would be interested to know that Fullerton soldiered under Dépôt RSM Donald Whyte (Scots Guards) when they were instructing the Canadian Guards, in drill and traditions, their senior Canadian NCOs included their Canadian RSM, McManus. Nemo me Impune Lacessit.
