Hey everyone!
In this short video I would be explaining about the reason why Canada has ended its temporary public policy that allowed visitors to apply for work permits from within the country, effective August 28, 2024.
This policy was initially introduced in August 2020 to help visitors who were stuck in Canada due to COVID-19 travel restrictions. It allowed visitors to apply for a work permit without having to leave the country, and also helped those who had previously held a work permit but changed their status to "visitor"
The policy was originally set to expire on February 28, 2025, but Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) decided to end it early which means that;
- Visitors who receive job offers can no longer apply for work permits online from within Canada.
- Applications submitted before August 28, 2024, will still be processed under the previous policy.
- Visitors can still apply for work permits from outside Canada or at the port of entry.

Ma please what is the full meaning of IMM5645
I wouldn’t say it has a specific “full meaning” but according to the Canadian government, the document is referred to as IMMIGRATION DOCUMENT NUMBER 5645, which is also known as “Family Information document” I hope that sheds some light to your question.
