Does the No Excuses Model Benefit Our Kids?
มุมมอง 2.2K9 ปีที่แล้ว
Many of the New Orleans charter schools use the 'No Excuses' model in their efforts to raise test scores. Unfortunately, not only does this model not improve scores, it undermines what should be a positive learning environment and in many cases, children are traumatized by degrading and dehumanizing effects of this model.

I cannot find a single peer review study that indicates this philosophy does NOT raise student scores. Where are your peer-review studies?
Hahaha. This guy has been psycho the whole time
Watch out Brandon Johnson is on a good start to destroy Chicago 🤣

Vallas reveals his temperment and incompetence. End id discussion.
Breaking the Chicago Teacher's Union would help a lot.
Nah they're vibing
I can't wait for him to be mayor
And fail our city like he failed New Orleans? Sure
@@rubyxhanahat’s wrong with him asking for better buildings. Always taking tv talking points and not using your own brain typical Americans nowadays
Because he's white.
Chicago has no republicans blame as a failed city. I love it.
@@mikec6347 How do you define a failed city.. A new ranking of global financial centers now includes Chicago in the top ten. The Global Financial Centres Index ranks Chicago as 8th just ahead of Boston and right behind Shanghai. Chicago was 12th on the index last year. New York is ranked 1st and London is 2nd. According to the index, Chicago ranked high for business environment, human capital, financial sector development and reputation. The city had a strong showing in several other areas as well, including banking, investment management, fintech and trading. Among other things, the index provides evaluations of future competitiveness
Now he’s running for Mayor. Funny how certain people get to reinvent themselves 🤮
As an educator of the Arts, thank you for your contribution to tell our stories.
You are welcome!!!
Silly people! Do not trust government to solve education problems! It has NEVER worked!
You need to learn something about CHOICE and free markets. Advocates have never argued that free markets offer all solutions to all problems. Of course you need a safety net, but to argue against free markets is the most absurd argument I've ever heard and typical of the big govt hacks in teacher unions. A larger majority of the kids are largely WAY BETTER off today than pre-Katrina.....putting the spin this video does only shows your ignorance....but those on the left are so good at those sorts of things and focusing on single issues rather than the bigger picture. And to the lady saying she had no school in neighbor hood....well, if the govt didn't want to put a school in your neighbor hood why should a private person spend their money to put one there....THAT is exactly what the govt should....fill the void and act as a safety net...but they can't even do that correctly. Individual choice and freedom have always lead to abundance and prosperity......but there is and NEVER WILL be a perfect system....so stop with the insanity of teaching people free markets are bad and stop with this obvious lefty Utopian puff piece.
Thanks for sharing. I've reposted this clip on my page
This gal rocks! Way to go! Kathleen
I finally was able to see this!
Great. How are you? Where does your child go to school?
I am doing good he is in McDonald 42. But I am trying to get him in a better school next year
When the grassroots community are invited to sit at the planning table we will get success! No one group or person owns John mac! We must respect each effort and join forces. Focus on the children's welfare !!!!!!!!
Brittney Gandolfi, you are where its at! Keep up the good work; the only chance we have to make this a better world is to start by telling it like it is to their face in public. Undeniable.
Coopertition? Her comments are as ridiculous as her assessment.
This young Lady is so well spoken she will make very good leadership.
Fantastic!
Why don't they just get together with other concerned parents and home school? There is a way that they can do this and there are other parents in New Orleans and surrounding areas that are already home schooling.
I was there both days - check my video of Day 1 - it was pretty scary.
These are the people we will trust with our children? The simple truth is, these invaders don't value us or our children. Our babies are raw product to them and not human beings. We are with you, people of New Orleans. For our babies we have to be ready to take it to the streets. When you think about it, how savage is it to treat children and families like this? They cannot have our children.
UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!
Actually, he was supposed to move the school from being failing schools to being successful schools. How many RSD direct run schools have improved to have an SPS score higher than the School Performance Score (SPS) that caused the school to be taken from the Orleans Parish School Board and moved into the Recovery School District? The answer is (0) ZERO, not one RSD direct run school has improved so that it is no longer a failing school using the same standard that caused the takeover, not 1.
