Port Pirie Aerodrome is located 2.5 hours north of Adelaide in South Australia.
History
The airfield was a Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) station and home to No. 2 Bombing and Gunnery School (No. 2 BAGS) during World War II. No. 2 BAGS provided bombing and gunnery training for pilots, air observers and air gunners. No. 2 Operational Training Unit was formed at Port Pirie on 6 April 1942, and operated initially with Wirraways and Fairey Battles at the aerodrome until it moved to Mildura, Victoria in May 1942. No. 2 BAGS was renamed No. 3 Air Observers School in December 1943. After World War II, the station housed No. 5 Central Recovery Depot where aircraft and parts were stored until disposal. The station closed in early 1947, with the aerodrome reverting to civilian use thereafter. A Bellman hangar is still standing at the airport and is in good condition, it remains in use by light aircraft based at the airport.

General Dynamics F-111C (A8-132) Multi-Crew Strike Bomber, South Australian Aviation Museum.
HISTORY: A8-132 made its first flight on 21 October 1968 and was delivered to RAAF Amberley on 25 July 1973 following a period in storage in the United States. This was due to concerns about the airworthiness of the F-111, as it was a new design and much testing had to be done to ensure the reliability of the aircraft type. Despite this protracted start, the F-111 was a very successful aircraft for the Royal Australian Air Force.
A8-132 then entered service with 1 SQN RAAF and in 1979 was allocated to the Aircraft Research and Development Unit (ARDU) at Edinburgh, SA, remaining there until 1988. Its primary role at ARDU was testing and clearance of new systems and weapons. It completed over 30 trails programs, including a range of guided weapons such as the Harpoon missile. During this period it was given a special paint scheme of camouflaged upper surface and white lower surface to provide a contrast when photographing the release of weapons during trails.
After ARDU service A8-132 returned to 1 SQN as a strike fighter and was repainted in the standard overall grey scheme. It was subsequently returned to its trails role when it served as a prototype for a major avionics upgrade program (AUP) in 1992 and for engine replacement program following the purchase by the RAAF of upgraded engines from the USAF.
Following these major projects, the aircraft was returned to squadron services with 1 SQN in 1996 and participated in a number of major exercises and airshows, both within Australia and overseas. A8-132 was retired with all remaining RAAF F-111s at the end of 2010. In 2011 it was returned to its ARDU colour scheme and was transported to RAAF Edinburgh for display.
A8-132 was exchanged for South Australian Aviation Museum's original RF-111C, A8-134, which was transferred to the Australian War Memorial .

Last time I saw this Helicopter was on 13 April 2001 the morning I left San Antonio, Texas, for my other Hometown of Sonoma County, California. This was 5 years before it was retired by Texas AirLife and shipped over your way and became LH-LSY as you know it. Glad to see that it’s still in service.
Thanks for the info.

This Helicopter is a Bell 412SP. It’s previous Tail Number was N555BA when it was operated by Texas AirLife around the city of San Antonio, Texas in the US. I grew up in San Antonio between 1992 and 2001 and saw this Helicopter up close on multiple occasions in addition to seeing it fly around San Antonio daily. It actually landed at my School when I was 7 Years old in 1993. It was delivered new to Texas AirLife in 1990. It was retired by Texas AirLife, flown to New Braunfels north of the City in May 2006, and then shipped to Australia where it received its current Tail Number.
Thank you for visiting Omaka!
I visited last week with my family when we visited on the Cruise Ship P&O Explorer, amazing place to visit. I wished I had more time to have check out dangerous skies display, maybe next.
