The creator of the show (Jhonen Vasquez) is a gothic comic artist and GIR’s voice actor (Rosearik Rikki Simons) is another gothic comic artist that is friends with the creator. But tacos and pigs are Jhonen’s obsession, not Rikki’s. Rikki is Jhonen’s friend so, like, imagine your friend asks you to voice a character like GIR in their show and all your friend’s weird obsessions are in your script. This also technically means GIR is voiced by a goth. (like the show creator)

GIR is voiced by a gothic comic artist who is friends with the show creator, also a gothic comic artist. Why? Because getting a REAL voice actor wasn’t convincing enough for GIR! I imagine it going like this: Jhonen Vasquez: I’ve made the choice. Rikki will be voicing GIR. Rosearik Rikki Simons: Heehee! I have no idea what I’m doing! Jhonen: See! He’s already nailing it! Rikki: That wasn’t acting!
