    Thank you for the Awesome video! Just to drive down these old roads and through the town (as you filmed) was amazing. It's like going back in time... Culross is only 7 miles West... of where my Ancestors emigrated from. (Charlestown area) To: St. Mary's, Ontario, Canada in 1855. ~ Laurence ('Laurie') Wilson & Janet Wilson (Alexander) were my Great-Great-Great Grandparents. (Related to the 'Black' family also) The Wilson's had a 'Spilling Mill' at Pitliver. Circa: 1843. ~ Midmill (name of the Mill...?) He also farmed there ~ Craigs of Pitliver. (Still there / for sale - sold/ about 2015 ?) Location: One road ( private road) West of Wagon Road / East of Waulkmill Cottages Road / North of A985. / Off the road / First drive-way/road on the left...on a little river / creek. It is just south of 'Pitliver Estate' (on the same road) ~ West of the town of Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland. So...where is the 'Black Castle' that my ancestors spoke of and said they visited their Relatives ? They said, "It had huge doors / and mirrors that made you look funny." I haven't been able to Find...a 'Black Castle' near-by....? (maybe it was a Manor House/ Estate ?) Still searching.... ~ Lori

      Superb history there… glad you enjoyed the video. There is a Black Castle in South Queensferry but the doors are fairly small, certainly not like a Manor House, there is a semi ruined castle in the other side of the water called Blackness Castle, but again not fitting the description. Other possibility could be the Blackwatch Castle (Balhousie Castle) in Perth? Hope that helps, and do let us know if you find out?

    I was in Edinburgh 2 years and did some of the North coast 500,we drove over from Edinburgh to Glencoe and drove the Skyfall road ,my god what an unbelievable road and the scenery is just to die for .heaven is a place on earth after all .I will be heading back to Glencoe in late December in My new volkswagan t6.1 transporter camper van. What weather conditions should I expect to see ,I'm sure it's going to be wet cold and quiet possibly snowing. Is it wise to attempt the Skyfall road again in these conditions or should I just stay to the main roads during the winter months and make plans to return during the warmer months 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿💙

    • @DriveScotland
      @DriveScotland ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Shane, We’ll travel around Scotland, and grata to hear your coming back as well. The road isn’t too bad as there are people that live down it. But in saying that it’s not a priority road and will not necessarily be ploughed or gritted. Make a judgement call between the turnoff and where the Skyfall point is and take it from there. If there is snow, and no clear indication as to where the road is, then I would probably turn back. Other than that, just take care and no hand break turns or Scandi flicks and you should be fine. Oh in saying that, keep an eye in the weather as it changes. It’s a long drive from the Loch back to the main road and with snow falling you could easily loose site of the road.

    Without knowing where Skyfall was made I roughly pictured it as being much further north as you're about to descend down into the Kyle of Tongue due to the similar barren landscape. Years ago I did drive the long no thru road all the way to loch Etive, but long before Skyfall. Two questions: Do you know where the location is of the Skyfall house itself assuming it's not the same one, and if possible please could you tell me what the music is on your video? Thanks.

    Superb edit, loved it. What's the area like for drone footage? I'm guessing it depends a lot on what the Scottish weather gods throw at you. Would love to make my own video up here one day! Keep it up mate.

      Absolutely down to the weather, been there and you can see the glen being hit with sun at one end and rain on the other, but there are some amazing spots for drone footage, although the RAF use it for exercises at times and some (most) of the land is owned by National Trust for Scotland and they do no allow flights to take place from their land, with a bit of research you can find takeoff spots that are safe.

      Haha, nah mate, yer nippin ma heid. Like all of the UK there are different vernaculars all over and even different dialects from one town to another. My “English” is very different from someone who speaks Glaswegian to Scouse to Doric. But to say it’s Shit is a wee bit unkind, especially when speaking in front of a camera is very different speaking face to face. Book a tour and let’s have a blether.
