Saw em last night and Mike was wearing the exact same thing. Thought this was my show haha.
Where did you see them?
@@RickRees Arcata Ca.
Thank you! Great gig, and you picked the best parts! 👍👍
Great interview! Huge Gong and AMT fan and just saw them tonight.
I think "mayhem" does not mean what it used to mean. Looks like a fun parade, though!
Fun mayhem.
An excellent interview. Thank you both
I am so glad this was the first video to show up on my newsfeed today. I remember seeing Dick Dale and his band perform in Oakland 5 months before he passed away. I met his 2 other bandmates after the show but didn’t get to meet Dale himself, unfortunately. Good to see that his son and bandmates are still keeping his music and legacy going. And mannnnn, I live a half hour from this venue. I would’ve gone if I had known about this show. Anyways, great job!
Amazing!! Only at Winters!!❤❤
Not to mention his wonderful saxophone contribution to Stare Kits cover of ‘Grimly Forming’! Where are the lost Information recordings?!
Do they play again in SF anytime soon?
Eddy Olford . Respect.
This is a really great interview! Thank you both!

How in the hell did I miss this . Argh!! Percy in the Mill!!!
Best thing at the Zu festival was T-Girls, I was there. I am not surprised their recording disappeared as those people were really anal about not letting recordings float around. Arsenal sucked, no offense but they did. The reconstructed Gong was just long jams based on old Gong songs with horribly muddy funk bass by Laswell. That attempt by Gomelski to bring progressive music to NY failed for many reasons. The festival was great but more important as an idea than for the music which was mostly improv. It wasn't a huge theater just like an old movie house so it was easy to run into Fripp which I did. I later saw Fripp perform with Harry at Bonds Casino. It was an amazing time but the Gomelski crew were not part of the important new music happening. I knew Branca and T-Girls, Static, Ping Pong, etc pretty well, they were older, rather uptight faux academics like Chatham and the polar opposite of the East Village bands like Contortions.
Are you ready, Eddy, to turn your sixteen tracks on?! These were magical tracks. Thank you. Glory to Eddy Offord!
Cool Julian Lage vibes
Sup Rick this is the guitar player for Oppressor. Thanks for posting sir. 🤜🤛
Wish I were there👬🔥
Would love to hear Eddie talk about ELP. Links anyone? Would love to be a fly n the wall watching Eddie mix Yes live with close to the Edge.
Punk and prog were successfully combined in later Yes albums like 90125. Trevor Rabin and Jon Anderson etc kicked some beautiful musical ass for several albums.
Great sounding video! THank you!
Mike has become a good friend and I have been supporting all of his projects, here in Florida . I saw both MSSV tours here and this last tour was spectacular, I got to meet Watt and Hodge plus hang with Mike before the show,. He's a huge inspiration for me as a musician and guitar player
How do you interview this man and not even mention ELP? A tiny bit about Keith re The Nice, but really? Does it occur to anyone that everyone is not a Yes fanatic?
Is there an available link for the Zoo Manifestival recording?
Yes there is. MP3s from Giorgio Gomelsky’s Zu Manifestival Concert October 8, 1978 at Entermedia, 189 Second Avenue in NYC ... www.giorgiogomelsky.com/mp3.shtml
@@RickRees many thanks!
Rick did you play music at places like Luggage Store in SF? I feel like I saw you around the Bay at venues such as that.
My playing days were mostly over by then, but I attended those shows. Around 1990 I was booking the improv series at Olive Oils on pier 50 in SF.
@@RickReesthat is OG!
Great interview dude!
ahh yes the opening salvo... thx Rick
thx Rick, post some of those quieter beginning parts, if you please...
Sure. I only have one more clip from that show, and it is from the beginning of the show.
Thank you Eddy and screw the Steve Wilson remixes.
Couldn't agree more.
I saw Art Bears -Live at Milano, May 1979, with Peter Blegvad - they played as encore very similar versions of "Alcohol" and "A Little Something"
I thought this was going to go into Material and that period. The previous years are interesting to a point but a little overdone for me. Bill on a Firebird bass was pretty great at the end.
Bill saw Cream and Ginger Baker when he was 14! That is so cool. I didn't see them but was certainly listening to them not long after that. And he wanted to play with Tommy Bolin. What a trip. Then he met Miles Davis and Brian Eno and many others. Incredible. A life destined to meet people and make music.
hell yes! i was a part of the ibl marching band this year, it was so fun!! the other bands were so good
Omg cool I was apart of vallemar last year/riordan this year :D

It would be interesting to hear his take on his collaboration with Robert Quine.
Met him a few times. GREAT guy.
