Standard clutch will go if you keep using lunch control and antilag because the standard clutch plates are only rated to about 480nm, upgrade soon mate. Just advise before going hybrid 😂 learnt that myself it also destroyed the flywheel. Both replaced! Stock flywheel scachs performance clutch.
Do you still run this filter? How did the intake sound change? Was there any noticeable performance change? Im currently running an K&N one but want to switch after all the bad things I heard about the oil (on the filter) covering the air flow sensor after some time...
Yes still running it, I do make sure to clean it regularly too, there was a ever so slight change in induction noise.

Did you do a dynorun? If you're not running Stage 2+, it cannot be 420hp.
Yes I did, car ran well, there will be a video on it at some point, bare in mind that the fuel being run is 99 Octane and IAT were extremely low
@ethantyrerf22 Still you need to flash the Stage 2+ map to achieve those numbers for the N55 EWG. Looking forward to the video.

What kind of power would you get out of this with a pure turbo? Do you need forged internals either?
No, on stock internals 550 ish whp pure stage 2 with supporting mods. Had this setup on an F30 335i it was a perfect daily.

@ethantyrerf22 pilot 5 on my have been brillant in the wet! Glad I got rid of the supersports absolutely crap in the wet and cold with 500hp 😂

@@ethantyrerf22 honestly feels a completely different car on pilot 5s.
I had an M235i, tracked it and it blew up (Wasn't even on semi slicks either, just decent road tyres). Oil starvation is the real issue, and even with a baffled sump if you're in high G corners for long enough it's going to starve. The only real safe way to track an N55 if you're planning to drive it hard is to put the S55 Sump + Scavenge pump in.

@@ethantyrerf22 either S55 Sump and scavenge pump, or look into accusump. It collects oil during normal driving and when it detects low oil pressure it releases the oil it's stored so you don't throw a bearing etc. For the occasional nurburgring trip where you're not driving at 10/10ths all the time you'll be fine though.

@JIBBOYZ is very underrated, b58 isn't a lot better! Ewg n55 are just as quick in stock form and have stronger bottom ends and crank OG m2 uses the same parts Plenty of them are running 700bhp with no problem, torque that kills engine, not bhp.

I would not risk not getting a baffle before track. That’s a BIG issue for the N55. I have a friend who seized his just doing dunuts. Baffle for N55 is a MUST

Just done oil cooler gasket on my m135i and found metal shavings in the oil so i say early signs so parked it up and priced up new acl bearings and a mmr baffled sump

Rod bearing on the n55 normally go on the f30 n55, not heard of many going on the m135i or m235i. M135i m235i have stronger bottoms ends than the f30. I do know the ewg models have better bottom ends, stronger crank, and apparently s55 rod bearing! On the sump, the M2 n55 has a baffled sump but not the m135i or m235i, so if you want one aftermarket or m2 sump, will fit. Hope this helps

I belive so, the EWG n55 engines are built more stronger 💪. I got 2014 435i F33 with EWG version. Rod bearing issue seem to be previous n55 engines 2009 to 2013 e series and f series.
@ethantyrerf22 90c - 110c normal warm oil temp. Just let the car warm up, that's what makes rod bearing go. Also, get a bigger intercooler at stage 2 cos air temps can cause higher oil temps because the engine needs cooler airtemps to keep oil temps lower.

its funny you posted this last night i was looking up M235i on nurburgring hahaha i have an m235i and me engine blew from rod bearings failure at 50k miles, the engine i have now has built rod bearings and i beat the living hell out of the car every day and it takes it like nothing with stage 2 mhd and stage 3 xhp. i would definitely suggest getting built rod bearings because its bound to happen when you drive the car like it should be driven.

It is not as big of an issue as people make out of it, but it is recommended to change them to stronger like ACL around 150dkm. If you do regular oil changes and drive it on street you should be fine. Doing track or a lot of donuts then you might need to find a solution for it.

@@ethantyrerf22 also, if you want to track once in a while, overfill the oil by a quarter, lots of people do that too. If you building a full track n55 then get m2 oil sump setup, baffle won't do enough.
@@veldmannn it’s definitely not something i’ll be doing often, probably once every 6 months maybe, so will defo look into overfill the oil ever so slightly, basically make sure oil reading is on max and then put in a extra quart?
@@ethantyrerf22 yup but only when going on the ring for example, not for street use, know plenty of people who done over 50 laps with just ACL bearings on E chassis n55 engine without issues. You have to keep in mind that of course it’s a bottle neck of the n55 non M engine, but there are so many of these engines sold that you have to look at it percentage wise.

It really all depends on the garage and location, a lot of garages will fit a Aftermarket exhaust

What's mileage on your n55? Seen one n55 on 63k miles with metal shavings in oil filter.
Around 80k miles, in my ownership since 60k miles ive been doing oil changes every 3-5k miles
I've an M140i I've never had a car that's given me so much trouble... Already replaced the turbo twice in a year, not a happy camper. It has completely put me off ever wanting a BM again. And it's a purity because they are a beautiful car.
