so young and so switched on top shelf
I genuinely believe I might be buying this boat this weekend! The numbers 9163 are the same and looks identical inside.
@@123harleyc on the broads?
Yes I live in beccles. The guy who has it now is sadly not getting much use out of it hence why he’s selling it. I genuinely can’t believe the boat I should be getting is this exact one but it is I’m positive.
Obviously I’m going to take good care of it but after literally seeing all the hard work you put in I’ll be extra careful!
@@benriverss I purchased the boat! It’s 100% the same one, still got the same engine on it. You really did a great job!
Nice boat broski
Sehr gut 👍, schönes Boot
Looking good.
Just started my first renovation, so I'm trying to suck in as much info as possible 🤯
Where did you order the carpet
I bought mine off eBay mate £10 for 2 square metres! Very good stuff, 4 way stretch carpet is what you need 👍👍
I'm told to always get the heat resistant spray adhesive as the cabin acts like a greenhouse in summer and you don't want to come to your boat and find the stretch material on the floor.
Shourly do another update
Ben, this is outstanding. Well done sir.
9:28 just a theory, some of the white caps have popped off over time, the previous owners have noticed the screws have rusted and replaced them as a when the caps fell off?
that is defo a possibility!
I am looking for the same boat atm, I want to gut the whole thing and modernise it to my own taste, I will never sell after the project is finished so can go mad on it. Subscribed to your channel as I can see myself learning a lot from you. Ps I’ve never fixed, piloted or owned a boat I’m hoping TH-cam will be my right hand man.
it will be a great move, good solid boats, a great size too. many people willing to help.
Loving the channel,Anymore videos?
im working on it, videos filmed just need to edit! hopefully out soon
Our first boat ..new in 1973 ...70 h.p. extra fuel tanks ..Great for water-skiing....
i bet that flies, i have a fletcher 150 arrowsport with a 85hp Yamaha 2 stroke and that flies
Enjoyed the videos. Have you put it up for sale yet?
Yes I have, I completed this project in May just the editing that's taking the time. Part 5 is getting there and the video is only 3 likes away from 100 too! Thank you for the support
Who had this boat that put out three fenders only ONE of which is effective...
Definitely needed some love! thank you for the comment!
Just a thought - The hinges for the door can be unscrewed from the outside, so anyone could potentially get into the cabin. The hinges need to be secured from the inner edge of the door and frame. Fantastic job, looks great.
Thank you for the support! means a lot. Thats a great idea! will defo think about that going forward.
Nice project and presentation, thanks. Could do without the loud music tho.
Thank you for the feedback I will make sure I don’t put it so loud on next part! Thank uou!!
Great project 😎⚓️🛥️ I am doing a ski boat project as well as lots of others 🤣
Thank you! I know how it is! One project leads to another!! What tripe of ski boat is it?!
Well done
Thank you so much! Next part will be out Friday!
I am enjoying watching this. However it is hard to hear you. Please put the audio higher when you are talking. And please lower it when the music plays.
Will do for sure! Thank you for the feedback! Editing next pet now!

So sorry for the delay out this Friday! Got so behind work and filming! Editing it now! Thank you for the suppory
Looks great, I have had 5 Shetland's over the years 🤦♂️
Great boats!! What model was you favourite???
@@benriverss Probably the 535 but I had a lot of fun my 498 that had a 90hp on
Hi Ben Just found your channel. I only last week bought a shetland 640 its on a marina on the Lancaster canal need to get it back to Manchester to do it up . Can you please tell me what is the material called for the the boat head. Btw you bave done a great job, hope i can get mine something similar Thanks mate
Do you mean the four way stretch carpet?? Thank you for all the support
@benriverss Yes mate where did you buy it from Cheers
@@nicothechihuahua3167 hi mate, I had someone looking to sell it in my marina!! Got very lucky
hello, can the boat sail with how many people on board?
Up to the owner but I’d say 5 maybe 6 at a push. Do you have a family four?
quick turn it off it leaking !!!! lol so funny , am working on a snapdragon 24 i yet to check the sink but done lights and bilge pump trying to do engine tomorrow
It wasn’t too bad in the end but was rather funny! How long have you been working on your boat for?
only 2 weeks on and off@@benriverss
@@gatecrasher1970 sounds like you’ve had a good crack at it already tho!
Great videos i really enjoy them, please keep up the good work.
Thank you so much! Next part out next Friday unless we get 100 Likes 😜
Great job , keep at it.
Thank you so much! Next part out now!!
Excellent series of videos. Thought the idea of bending the carpet tiles was brilliant very usful tip. Looking forward to the next one many thanks.
Thank you very much! Glad you found it useful! Are you completing a project youself?
lovely job so far and that was one cheap Shetland and as you know if you have a clean well named boat like Shetland or anything like that you get good money for them but i have to say i love the job on the roofing
Thank you so much for the continued support! Will look good with the front window piece in too!! And the new cushions upholstered I think don’t you?
@@benriverss yep 100% will be a great weekend boat for someone when all done
@@mrchilled85 hopefully will make someone happy who will enjoy it!!
awesome mate... plan to do same next year
You should! Couldn’t recommend enough! What boat is that with?
lovely job i had a number of shetlands over the years and very safe boats my last one i ended up putting a Johnson 70hp 2 stroke on the back dam that thing did fly tho i was using it for fast fisher / weekend boat
Honestly best boats I’ve had so far! Great fun with a small or big engine ideal size! Where was it you had yours?
@@benriverss benfleet in Essex would go out on the North Sea with it for weekends at a time
@@mrchilled85 how did it cope on the sea? Never had mine on the sea
@@benriverss was fine in 3ft seas tho much more was rocking about to much at anchor tho when moving under power it was not bad
@@mrchilled85 that’s interesting to know! Did you do that with the 70hp on back?
Great content! Found your channel as I am looking to purchase my own boat very soon! Can you please let us know where you get the roof lining from? Thanks 👍
EBay mate great stuff used it on 2 boats and had no issues about to instal it on my new boat too

Nice job. Well done
Thanks!
Looks fantastic. Well done. You've developed some good skills thar will help you with your larger project. Looking forward to the next video.
Will be out Friday! Thank uou very much!
Am sure the last three uploads have all been the same video. Can't wait to see the next instalment.
Next week for part 3 mate
Did you use glue to stick the headliner to the roof? Im restoring the exact same boat
Yes mate, ordered it with the headliner off eBay. Make sure you get the high temperature stuff or it can peal off in the weather! Good luck! What are you doing to your boat?
Hey your reply was swallowed by the sea of replies on my channel, but im doing a complete restoration to my shetland 570, I have repainted the outside, redone all the windows, and im just starting on the inside. Is that headliner still fixed to the roof after a year?@@benriverss
@@UrbanAstronomer no worries mate, yes still on with no issues
What is this stuff called? I am searching ebay right now, what did you search for? Flecking, Pluche, trunk liner? @@benriverss
By the way, you know the aluminium strips for the windshield on top? I have painted them black, it looks sick as hell.@@benriverss
You need to upload more your videos are mint
Thank you so much mate!
It looks like its not a restoration its just fixing some bits and relining. Boat restoration usually includes full floor and stringers replacement + transom if needed and lot of stuff more....
Thank you! Restoring or bringing it back to usable and acceptable condition is how I’d describe it
Have you checked whether the boat is dry? If it has not been done before this boat is water-logged for sure. The best way to check is to remove table socket in the cockpit but I can see yours has been sealed so you can cut the hole out inspect the boat under floor and install new table socket later. The boat is filled with foam and if waterlogged the foam will be brown . Ideally would be to cut the foam out to bottom of the floor (water usally sits at lowest oart of the foam). I did restore couple of Shetlands F4 and they are always waterlogged.
Foam was all good on this one mate and later in another video I take the cabin pedistal bracket off the floor and inspect the foam! Thank you for your comment! What years were the f4s that you did?
@@benriverss Good to hear. I did 3 F4's from top to bottom, including floor. I've converted one from splash well to engine pod which gave plenty of deck space (F4 from Mark 5 as I remember were designed with the engine pod instead of the traditional splash well. I worked on years 1983, 84 and 91. I still have the '83 one which I use for fishing and cruising. I'm done with boats restoration for good - too much work haha!
Definitely mate! Any photos?
When you uploading next your videos are mint you need yo upload more
Today 👍
Hello from Ireland. Great to see a young lad using his spare time with something constructive. A top role model. Keep up the good work.
Thank you very much! Have you got a boat yourself?
@@benriverss not yet. I’m looking for my first boat. Whatever comes along. I’m not necessarily bothered about flipping it and making money off it, just something to use on the lakes & canals here in Ireland. I’ve seen a couple of 26’ cruisers that need total refurbs for about €2000, but that means paint, interior, electrics & engine. I’ll see what happens.
@@Takingnoshite if you aren’t interested in the renovation side of it and you can get one done then defo do that and just enjoy it. Some people start projects when they don’t really want to and end up not finishing them and not experiencing how boating can be! What sort of thing you looking for? A speed boat or cruiser?
@@benriverss I’m lucky that I live near a good fishing lake, I’m also about 30 miles from the river Shannon. A cruiser would be better for wife & 2 kids. I don’t mind the refurb side of things I used to work in maintenance so it’s something I’d enjoy. The budget is the thing. With a refurb I could spread the cost.
@@Takingnoshite yes definitely mate, if you can do a project then I would recommend just make sure you get a good one for a good price may take a while but will be worth it for sure. Will you be staying on it?
