Thrive Law Impact Report 2023/2024
Thrive Law, founded in 2018, is six years old in 2024. Today, with teams in Leeds, London and the Southwest, we provide expert, lawyer-led Employment Law, Outsourced HR and Employment Law Support, Training, and Consultancy services, underpinned by our own lived experience.
We put mental health and wellbeing, ED&I, and neurodiversity at the forefront of everything we do, because we understand the importance of creating psychologically safe spaces where everyone can be their best and truest selves.
And we have made it our mission to work with and nurture the progressive leaders of the future to help us achieve this.
Leaders who:
Act as catalysts for lasting change and impact.
Empower people to become their best and truest selves.
Are people pioneers who realise potential and boosts performance
And ensure psychological safety.
After six years, we are ready to take it up a notch.
Before we do, we look back over the past 12 months and see how we have championed proactiveness, legal expertise, progressive values and positive action to create and sustain workplace cultures that not only work, but work well.

Can I ask for these adjustments if I’m in a temporary contract? I’ve just had to come home in total overwhelm. There aren’t enough breaks and there is just too much to have to multitask continuously. I feel like they are going to get fed up with my so called mistakes and being tearful and just sack me.

Thank you for this information. I recently asked for a very minor adjustment. Starting a half an hour earlier and finishing a half an hour earlier. I was told no. This clip has given me the courage to fight it. I had today off as RSD hit pretty hard but I'll be going tomorrow and won't be backing down! I don't think I'm asking too much and it does not affect the org in any way. Thanks again

If I had bad advice at the time, then became unwell later, could I make a claim.? I have ADHD, and was subjected to victimisation at the time, leading to my 35 years of work being made redundant by a new narsasistic manager. I also had reported bad practice and neglect of vulnerable adults I witnessed in my public sector support role, my grievece was seen has vexatious, I was asked to leave my workplace and work from home for 5 months, and not enter any public sector building attached to my job role.

Paperwork and emails are my difficulties. No reasonable adjustments given after asking many times. Diagnosed at 52, two years ago. I was suspended for 4 weeks that led to the end of my contract, on a false aligation. In my suspention I had then a final warning 2 days before the end of my contract. I haven't been working for 4 months, and not in a position to work. I have a tribuneral claim to submit, a solicitor informed me I have less than 51% of winning. This has made things worse. Any advice.?

    • @rebecca_stone
      @rebecca_stone 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

Curious what adjustments you asked for re emails? Diagnosed at 42 and find non-stop expectations around emails, notifications and convoluted admin procedures a killer in my role (senior manager, corporate). Due to IT bureaucracy, it took 3 months to be allowed to upgrade a Microsoft app to manage tasks. No other task management tools allowed. It was my one adjustment request, and I had to write a case, explain my issues to several teams, technicians etc. Very demoralising. I found out there are many ADHD staff who were too intimidated to ask for this upgrade, but struggling too. Am looking for a new job because I can't sustain this work style.

Simple solution keep the 2 week pay make them stay home period I just lost my grandmother it's still killing people so better not to spread ot to you co workers who might then loose a loved one and as far as employers are concerned if you don't keep people out you might be liable for a wrongful death lawsuit. It's cheaper to and morally and ethically your responsibility to protect your employees from death. Why is this even a thing?! Or put it this way do you want to be responsible for a child or infants death? DO YOU? OR NOT? WHY TAKE THE RISK? FOR MONEY? HOW CAN YOU LIVE WITH YOURSELVES YOU ARE NO BETTER THAN THE SUPERSPREADERS AND THE PEOPLE WHO WERE LICKING GROCERY CARTS AND SIMMILAR PUBLIC USE ITEMS LIKE DOORS TIME CLOCKS AND MICROPHONES!

thank you!! its so nice to hear what others struggle with! Im sighed off work with stress for the 3rd time in a year as haven't got the adjustments. I disclosed my ADHD disability when I applied and explained how bad the sensory issues are, even had an Occupational health assessment due to the sensory issues. They let me work from home for a bit but was then told I should be in the office more, its open plan and I was saying how stressed I was as was given really complicated admin work (that wasn't on my job spec) and having to try to focus so hard and getting hours of sensory overload every day. A few weeks after that and daily panic attacks at work and I had a doctors appt. My boss called me and asked was I all set for the Dr Appt? He then said, Are you getting a new brain (laughing)? I felt so humiliated and realised this is why they were reluctant to give some of the adjustments, I went into a downward spiral after that, felt suicidal and have been too ashamed to return since. What on earth can you do when you've tried everything, and yet you fail every day?

Oh, how I feel you... I started work in a new place 2 months ago- I told my manager that I diagnosed ADHD. Once I found that the work environment was a mega distraction (I work as a well-being co-ordinator at a nursing home for residents living with dementia) I explained that I needed somewhere quiet to sit. This was taken on board (kind of) but then I was put back, sat in the distracting place after a few days. I was told "Just multi task" and when I got confused with the printer at work, my boss said 'jokingly' "How old are you?!" I've also been told to plan ahead and focus more.... People really don't get it... I'm looking into CBT and hoping to get some help via Access To Work. Wishing you all the best of luck. I really do understand how you feel ❤

That's awful to hear those experiences. I've been looking into access to work which is something you don't seem to need to have your employer involved in so much as its a way to get funding for things that can help in the workplace like noise canceling headphones and taxis to work.

Exactly! I have been raising my voice and shut down about fake well-being at work. But I'm one in thousands! 2 year ago I started thinking a lot in order to see which companies do actually really care! O was not able to find that real fortune 500 list. There is so many choices, amazing marketing, the way how people appear or companies, even startups that have a chance to brake this circle they are following the same bad strategy since they also hire ppl coming from this corporations. There is so many things I would like to discuss and share my views and learn and connect with you guys because I think this is my path. This is atopic that has been with us since primary school, and the same model people brought to their work life. Let's connect if you see my message!

I am currently off work, having cbt therapy ( 4th out of 8 sessions through private health insurance ). Work want me to provide a fit note so I have to get one from doctors this week as I have been off about a month. I am worried about going back, but also getting bored sat at home with only 1hr each week of therapy. Your video has helped me and I will have to ask therapist tomorrow what they think about when I go back as well as ask doctor if medication will help…… Think if I had more regular sessions I would be more sure that I could have tools to cope on return to work.

I like that they use neuro-diverse and neurotypical terms now. Neuro-diverse personalities are still thought of as "disorders" by most people. I consider them part of human variability that is under represented in the general population. Many of them would do perfectly find if put in the right activity and conditions.
