I have this car in the USA, 2004 Passat GLS 1.8T engine, 4 Motion all wheel drive with the 5 speed manual transmission. My car is extremely rare, it is all original but not in the best condition cosmetically. Mechanically it's sound, knock wood. It has 118,000 miles and drives great. I've taken mine through similar mud and off road and it is brilliant. I drove in the snow once and left trucks stuck stuck and sliding. Where I'm from it only snows maybe once or twice every couple of years so when I got the opportunity to drive in it I immediately went out that morning and tested out my tires and AWD system. I do have Hankook Kinergy 4S2's on it so that helps traction like you wouldn't believe.

Lol this is a stupid video, the guys that's driving the Venza they're purposely not driving properly? Look how calm the Highlander drivers are and Venza driver is flooring the gas for no reason. That's not how people drive in bad weather. I'm not saying the Venza is better but the video is not fair. It's all about the Highlander in this video. 😂

You clearly see why REAL offroad vehicles (i.e. Land Cruiser) are way superior. Spinning wheels all the time - and this is easy terrain. Will not happen with a proper differential lock. And he fails the last hill until he approaches with enough momentum. Total failure. This is no offroad vehicle, but a spaceious family van with 4x4. Nothing more.
