What another great video. Those big forest areas you ride through, are those private land or are they park land?
@@fortesfortunajuvat6782 Most of forest areas from this videos are park land, but there are probably some privatly owned areas as well. I say "probably" because it's not that owners declare it upon entry (unless it would be fenced off). About 40% of forest land in Lithiania is considered to be private.
@@s13r2s Even if it's private land you can ride through it?
If its fenced off with no entry signs - no, you cannot ride there. Unless you have permission of the owner. In case of forest some areas might be privately owned but owner does not care enough to make it clear and set up a fence. Then it does not matter as you have no way of knowing about this fact 🙂
@@s13r2s I live in a city that is considered "bicycle friendly". Believe me, it's not. There are a number of trails, mostly disconnected from each other. Any gravel trails are so short it really isn't worth the time. That leaves bike touring, being a roadie, or a part time mtb rider. So, I kinda live vicariously through your videos and the others who do similar videos. Your vids are much appreciated and look awesome in 4k! Time for me to get outside in the freezing weather and ride. Looking forward to your next video.
@@fortesfortunajuvat6782 Well, if it's not that great living/cycling in a "bicycle friendly" city, imagine what it must be like living in one which isn't 🙂So, maybe your situation is not the worst. Cycle path situation in our cities has increased dramatically compared to the time when I started cycling, but it's still far from perfect. Most of my riding is outside of the city anyway, except when I commute to work or ride to/from bus/train station. We have issues with cycle path connections in some places too. I'm very glad that you enjoy my videos 🙂 Will keep them coming.
FINALLY!!! Got my computer fixed and now I can binge watch what I've missed. Just 12 days? It certainly looks like more than that on these videos and have to admit that I'd enjoy a few months of touring, especially because it's winter. Already can't wait for that to be over. And can't wait for the next video. Off to watch it.
Glad you got it fixed 🙂 Yeah, winter sucks.. can't wait for spring to come already 😄 Yup, I'd like to go on a longer trip sometime.. Right now I get a month of vacation time per year with the job I have (that's the typical vacation time here in Lithuania), and usually divide it to two parts and take two weeks in winter and other two in summer. During winter vacation I tend to go somewhere with warm climate to get away from cold weather and skip part of winter, haha.

Smagi kelionė, gražūs Lietuvos vaizdai apendikse 😄😁
Senai norejau uzsukt i ta regiona. Laukyme ten, bet tos senovines sodybos ir pilis tikrai atrodo ispudingai. Verta aplankyt ir pamatyt gyvai 🙂
It looks like a good ride, except for the one place where the feet are about to get wet.
It was a hot day with a temperature around +30C, so wet feet would not cause any problems. The did not get wet though, if I remember correctly 🙂 I like going off the beaten path, that's when the real adventure starts 😄
Nice. I love Lithuania. I was there several times and by bike it must be wonderfull.
Thank you. Yes it is a wonderful feeling to explore it by bike, you should try it on your next visit. 🙂

Greetings from Poland, Lithuania is so beautiful.
Hello and thank you. I can say the same thing about Poland too 🙂
Another great video. What was the monument at the beginning about?
There was a great dynasty of monarchs in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania that reigned from the 14th to the 16th century - Gediminaičiai (or Gediminids). These columns were the symbol of their house. I don't know why there is also an altar there though 🙂

@@s13r2s Awesome. Thank you :)
That's some good looking country.

Thank God for trees that are in the right place at the right time. Do you know what those brick buildings 00:57 are used for?
Yes, trees are life savers sometimes 😄 However, that tree was not very helpful for that kind of rain. But there was nothing better to hide under. No, I don't know anything about those brick buildings, sadly. Just noticed them along the way and turned the camera on 🙂
@@s13r2s They just got me curious. They look old and was wondering if they're in use today.
I did notice pipes sticking out from the building on the right which look like output from a gas heater. So there is definitely something going on there, even though it looks like to be deserted 😄
Absolutely love the old buildings. Was surprised at the bike lane markings considering the number of cyclists across Europe. I would have thought drivers would be pretty well alert to the presence of cyclists.
There are a lot of nice old buildings in Czechia 🙂 Drivers are usually respectful and aware of cyclists on the roads, but having extra infrastructure or just something to remind about us never hurts. Things like this also encourage more people to get on bikes too and give extra confidence to new cyclists.
Lithuania. 👍👍👍 🚴🚴🚴

How do you decide where to go on your rides? There is so much to see, do you just go wherever your bike will take you or do you plan it out meticulously?
@@fortesfortunajuvat6782 I make a route beforehand which will include points of interest which I would like to visit or places where I want to cycle. But I usually make some adjustments when I'm actually there depending how things go 🙂 I then pre-plan route for the next day at camp in the evening in more detail. Having freedom of choice is more interesting than doing everything 'by the book' 😄
It is impossible to see everything due to time constraints, sadly.
Nice !!!
@@siarzhukhuryn8754 Thanks! 👍
A spectacular video! So many details that I need to watch it several more times. And tunnels with lights that actually work??!!!
@fortesfortunajuvat6782 Thanks 👌Yes, the lights did work over there. They were not super bright though, I had my lights on as well to be more visible.
Those mountains are unbelievably beautiful. Need to head West from where I am to see anything approaching what you just showed. Extremely well done.
Thank You 🙏 Yes, scenery in Austria is truly amazing. This was my first proper visit to the Alps. Since I live in a flat-ish area as well (we only have small hills here in Lithuania), witnessing mountains of this magnitude always takes my breath away 🙂

Love the old buildings. Any idea what the church like building is at 0:10 ?
Initially I thought that it's a church, but actually it's Munich's New Town Hall (Neues Rathaus) . Really impressive building, probably one of the most cooler looking structures I have seen in a long time!
Beautiful countryside. Are you allowed to hammock camp in those forests or are there restrictions about using straps on trees?
There are no restrictions on using straps on trees in our country. Camping in general is only legally allowed in designated campsites here, however it is usually tolerated in other places as long as you are not on a private land or in some protected forest area. So it is easily possible to hammock camp in these forests 🙂
labai grazu

So little traffic on the back roads. Is that normal?
Not really. We were surprised as well. I think the main reason for this was that those shots were taken during an early morning 🙂

Very nice. Is that a planted crop at 5:34 or something that grows wild? It seems I should know what it is, but I'm drawing a blank.

Another great video. One of the things I've noticed is how clean the countryside is. Unfortunately, not the same here. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching. There are still occasional piles of trash in the woods or some garbage laying around in public campsites/rest areas, but situation has definitely improved and is getting better. Which is nice 🙂

All roadside doggies should have a holographic label indicating whether they are friendly or not. If you did 114 km in one day that's impressive on such roads.
It would be great if they would. I was very happy that this dog was friendly as it was a big one. Would have to sprint very hard to get away if he would be after me 😅 Yeah, I did it in one go. Had a tailwind half the way though, which really helped.
Thank you for another wonderful video. Don't know where you got your video production skills but, you're very good.
Thank you, glad you liked it 🙂 I'm still learning bit by bit and try to improve when possible.

You should do a video going over your bikepacking / camping gear for newer cyclists!
Great suggestion 👍
It was good to see. The farmyard dogs were ready, too!
Haha! Yes, they always are ready to chaise, and some of them bite 🙂 Thanks for watching 🙏
Another great video. Do most cyclists not ride in cold weather there?
Thank you 🙏 No, not really. Cycling in cold weather is not very popular around here. Most cyclists prefer to stay at home and zwift, or replace cycling with some other activity during winter months 🙂
