Shallowing the club, you’ve heard of it, but what does it really mean?
Unsurprisingly it can mean many things and be achieved in many ways. I’m joined this week by PGA Professional Steve Thomas, the Head Of Coaching at the Award Winning 3 Hammers Golf Academy.

Yo I'm ur first view and like on this vid❤
@@User123-e6o hope your good mate, how’s your golf game?
what's up with the ambiguous/click-bait-ish title? The video is generally about how to shallow due to most players are steep thus this is a good thing. What does 'never again' mean in this title? Video is decent, title is terrible.
@@Ifishmo thanks for the comment, originally the concept for the video was to discuss why shallowing the club can be a bad thing, hence never again. For example, when shallowing excessively you may experience ground early contact, thin strikes big hooks and blocks (all defendant upon your release pattern amongst other factors). The content moved more towards different mechanisms to shallow with a light touch on the potential drawbacks, I simply forgot to edit the title accordingly and have now done so, thanks for bringing to my attention! Hope you found the video informative, have an awesome day, happy golfing🏌️♂️

Great advice! I love the ten shot rule. I will definitely be using this on the course.
@@lloydmiller8612 thanks Lloyd, delighted to help! Hardest part is thinking about the shot rationally and not letting emotions get in the way for me I always find!

Most amateur golfers probably would be better with one hand only - as it encourages them to let the weight of the club and gravity to work naturally together - This chap looked like he was setting up to hit a three quarter / full shot - not a green side chip - good luck with the channel
I’m not keen on the running transcript- it’s very distracting

Had to laugh at your duff demonstration shot
We keep it real here😂 it happens!
i dont usually watch videos from youtubers with lower views or subs because i assume the quality will be bad in a lot of cases... but i have to say this video is really really good! i wouldnt be surprised if you keep this up youll grow fast! keep it up im routing for ya!
Thank you so much I really appreciate the comment! Is there anything particular you’d be interested to see a video on?
I am curious what club you are using. I have a60 degree, and I don't have to open the face at all to get loft. Other than increasing loft, I am not sure I understand why you should open the face.
The club is a 58 degree wedge, I wouldn’t typically open the face as like you say there’s plenty loft. However for specialty shots for example off a severe downhill lie to a green sloping away from you with a bunker you have to get over. It’s handy to have a very open faced lob shot in the bag!
thank you for the tip! Great Video
Thank you! How’s your golf game?
Great advice! I’ll be taking it to the course this weekend ;)
Haha it’ll surely be entertaining, Enjoy the golf!
nice video, i really like the routine. my issue is where can i practice like this? cant do it on course, we dont have ranges with greens around here. they dont allow chipping around our putting greens, private courses are like the only option for this type of practice. at least for me where in located.
Completely get your point, traditionally golf practice areas aren’t set up for optimal practice! I’d suggest finding another way to add variation to your practice, you could complete this drill on the range, simply change to challenges! Get creative with it🙌
What a stupid fucking example lol
Should identify the players with no chance....and, the Royster is number ONE.
Imagine getting a lesson and the coach just says “just hit the center of the face”. Thanks Doctor
How do you work on stock yardages with range balls? Do they not fly shorter and more inconsistent? I’ve been trying to for years to nail my distance as narrow as possible but feel I can only work here and there when on the course.
It can create some inconsistencies, however it depends on how fast the ball is travelling. The faster/further the ball goes the more it will be effected by range balls. Personally the range I coach at uses heavily compressed balls, but I find my yardages are fairly accurate with these balls until I reach the longer golf clubs. For reference my stock 7 iron is a 177 carry and I find on the range I can hit this comfortably within a couple yards. With driver however I see a massive drop off, this is purely my personal experience, I’ve not researched this area, but would be very interested to look more into this! Thanks for the comment, hope this helps!
Thanks for the lesson, we were having bad results chipping from the wet ground and this will help, i will let you know how it goes
You’re very welcome! Glad you’ve found it useful, let me know if there’s anything in particular you’d like me to cover in a future video!
@@stephenrogergolf Thank you for that tip, it worked very well, it's another tool in my game, keep up the good work
@@biblicist1014 you’re very welcome, delighted to help!
Wow the best grass ever lol also the greens are slow as molasses lol use a 58
Less margin for error with a lower loft😉
