If your tech gives you the range advantage, make use of it.
It's not just the range, but power. It's slightly under represented in the tabletop game, but in the novels a pulse rifle turns most of the battlefield into "soft cover" and makes the armour on a Chimera more of a placebo than reliable protection. Everyone loves to hype up the Bolter and Lazgun, but the Pulserifle is by far the most underrated weapon in the setting.
I mean yeah, thing is essentially a low fire rate, reliable long-range plasma rifle; it exchanges area of Impact and fire rate for penetration and range
It's considerably faster fire rate than an Imperial plasma gun, but lower fire rate than a typical Lazgun yes. Can still put out around 120 RPM, though it'd need short pauses to cool if sustaining that rate for long.
@@UnknownSquid I think that's the reason it has 2 barrels, one fires while the other vents heat! And they cycle like that per shot
@@nicolasgomez6637 Yep, that's correct. Amusingly this is a lore detail that a good many of the official artists for 40k seem to miss, since they very often depict it as firing both barrels at once. Although perhaps that could be an undocumented optional feature of it? Twin link your shots for hitting harder at lower fire rates. I actually made a working Pulse Rifle to play with in VR (in VRChat), and set it up to do this. Barrels correctly alternate, with an optional linked fire. Is fun to shoot.

Could the Inquisition or a DeathWatch Killteam space marine be able to use a pulse rifle without it being considered heresy? Arent these two the ones allowed to use xeno stuff like idk a gauss necron weapon

The last version is like the arrive of the White Helmets in a late attrition war. Such an innocent bunch, yet to see TRULY what is the thick of war, but at least, they indeed have the heart to begin fighting this war(like, the grizzled veterans who fought all the war until there is no ammo left and depleted numbers, they just stand tooth and nails, and the orks have now just more numbers, because they are depleted too. When the orks do the last charge, the green boys of the White helmets arrive with the enough to expell the greenskin menace)
Tau weapons: Unrivaled by anything except archeotech from the Golden Age of Man. Tau physique: Would lose to Steven Hawking in a 1 on 1 duel.
Foul xenos propaganda! Tau technology is shoddy and prone to catastrophic failure, and is clearly inferior to that of the Imperium of Man. Please report to your local Inquisition office for orthodoxy recalibration treatment.
