Design and Implementation of Multi-Level Inverter for Electric Drive Systems
This video presents a capstone project by undergraduate Electrical Engineering students focused on designing and implementing a multi-level inverter for applications in electric drive systems, including electric vehicles and industrial motor drives. The project explores advanced inverter topologies, such as diode-clamped and cascaded H-bridge configurations, and incorporates innovative control methods like Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation (SVPWM) for high efficiency and reduced harmonic distortion. Through MATLAB/Simulink simulations and practical prototyping, the students developed a cost-effective and energy-efficient three-level inverter that minimizes the number of semiconductor switches and optimizes torque ripple reduction in BLDC motors. This work demonstrates the students' ability to bridge theoretical knowledge and practical applications, contributing to advancements in sustainable energy and smart transportation technologies.
