I love being outdoors! Especially going to places off the beaten path. Here you will find my exploration adventures, places on the path that are worth visiting, and the occasional bit of knowledge I have gained from over 35 years of monkeying around in the wild, sometimes delivered with my corny, cringey, and campy sense of humor. Forest, cave, water, I'll explore anywhere just to see what there is to see! I also make my own specialized gear. I'm a DIY guy and will use whatever I can find to make what I need at times. The outdoors in an endless adventure!
Sometimes You Become A Ninja!
A dog, two cats, free time, Dune, Ninja, Deadpool, Wolverine, and a small explore. I don't know how it works, but it did.

Exploring Three Islands and Having no Serious Attitude About it!

A look at three small islands in South Holston lake on a beautiful fall day. What can be more relaxing than kayaking on a mountain lake with all the fall colors?
I Made The Best Survival Kit!

If you had to survive a zombie apocalypse, this is what you need! Hands down the best survival kit ever thought of. (Yes, it's a joke for those of you who have a broken humerus.)
Kayaking + Hiking + Old Tower Site = Surprise
มุมมอง 723 หลายเดือนก่อน
I broke out the kayak to go find the only place left of the Big Creek community that is still above water. South Holston Lake now covers the old town, but the site of the lookout tower still remains. I had a lot of fun along the way and found something unexpected!
Sunrise at six Thousand Feet

Waking up when humans are supposed to be dreaming is worth the effort to view amazing beauty. Hiking through the pitch black is a different story. Today we do both, and no color enhancement is needed is needed in my opinion.
You Have to Have Fun With the Haters
มุมมอง 6044 หลายเดือนก่อน
My gen-x bravo video received some interesting responses. I found the hate quite hilarious! Again, don't overthink this, but I'm sure there will be those who lack the cognitive function to be able to understand humor beyond a 5 year old level.

Looking for aquatic wildlife in the shallow coves of a lake!

Some long scenes of exploring some murky shallow coves in a lake. Plus a crazy idea of what to do to those who have absolutely no regard or respect for others who wish to enjoy nature without their trash!
The frankenbike did a good test run, but the day ended badly.

It was time to put the frankenbike through a good test. It performed nicely! At the end of the day, other problems had me very discouraged.

Ive lived between 3 countries my whole life - Australia 🦘 United States & Malaysia - im at peace now here in rural Alabama
I totally believe they exist. 😁
I'm still on the fence about it, but there are many things we humans still don't know🤔. Even though I joke about stuff, I've had quite a few strange things happen that I can't explain away! 😄
For me, that’s what makes life interesting /exciting. Things that challenge our paradigm 😁
We put houses in the trees
I was thrown into the pool at age two. That's how we learned how to swim Gen X
Generation X keeps ass whoopings in their pocket
When did ninjas start using bear grills knives
Lol, Ancient Ninja tradition!
We used to go there about 20 years ago and hang out. I would drive my jeep up to it. We got up to the top then, but no way I'd do it now.
Seems like so many cool places have fallen into disrepair. I remember going up the old firer tower up on Clinch Mountain back in the 80's when the state was trying to make a hiking trail along the top. They never finished, and the tower and shelter is now private property. Was a great place to hang out.
Neomaxizoomdweebie, gen. z is not trying to pick a fight with Gen. X😂
1969 and raised in small town Inland Pacific Northwest. There were more guns and dogs in my town than people - likely by a shocking margin. I learned the Canadian anthem from being up late enough (on my own) to watch CBS sign off at night. I was the TV remote control for my dad until the mid 80s. Good luck Gen Z rabble rousers.
Dude you are a whole case of nutbag. (gen x here)
If you only knew! 😅
I go to work, I come home. I don’t care if you’re alive or dead, I don’t care about your life or the lives of your children. Stay out of my way.
Great podcast, ❤the sense of humor 😂. Have a great week 😊
Hi really enjoy your podcast & your humor lol. Always enjoy the beautiful fall scenery. Have U checked out KJ-outdoors? It's about beautiful hiking in Norway. Anyways always enjoy your video & the information on places I've not been. Have a blessed Thanksgiving 😊
Yes I have, beautiful scenery in Norway! Happy Thanksgiving!!!
You can park at Little Oak and launch from the boat ramp 😉
True, but where is the fun in that! 😉
Loved that video! U are so talented lol. Have a great day. As always wish U much success 😊
The disclaimer at the end is what got me! 😆
That minimum safe distance is important. 😁
I'm going to not-order it 10 years from now because I hate to procrastinate and get things done whenever. Matter fact I might just order two of them.
Better hurry, supplies are non existent!
Wow. I got half my merit badges here in mid 60s. I’m now 65 and just thought of this place. First thing that came up in Google.
Can;'t wait to order.
Big theme around GenX we want to be left alone. Dont try to force every single thing down our throat and say its good for us and to accept it.
always cool to stumble upon a geocache. cool area hope fall's been treating you well so far ✌
Thanks! Fall has been... rough. 😅 Hope your fall has been going well!
Thanks for the tour! I'm obsessed with Big Creek and only knew about the fire tower "remains" because of that Geocache lol. Been meaning to go take a look but lost the location since I don't have an active account anymore.
Go to the USGS historical topo maps. Holston Valley 1938 is a good map for big creek. It has the location for the tower marked well.
@@odysseyeduardo thank you!!!
How? 🤭. You’re just lucky I guess. 😂
I you only knew.....😆
Funny😂❤❤❤❤❤
Wait so that was in the Blue Ridge. I thought you were in California? My brain is messed up though. Beautiful views up there!
The Tenn - North Carolina border runs along the top of this mountain. I would love to get to some of the places in Cali though! (Away from the cities)
This is great! I've hiked to Grassy Ridge Bald in the snow and backpacked there during a thunderstorm. I'm originally from Wy and have never experienced weather like I have up there on the Bald 😂
Some friends and I woke up to a thunderstorm in the middle of the night on Big Bald (Different mountain not far away), not fun when your on the highest points around! lol 😨😅
Just when you thought the internet was there for education it turns out all it did was give nutters a voice.
I clearly remember the older generation calling us (Gen X) slackers. You're right about the intergenerational banter. These people are DEMONS! 😆
Keep it up! love the channel.
Thanks, will do!
They lurk…Mwahahaha.
Yea I know what u mean I been going kind of coo coo also hehehe 😂
You kids quit teasing those poor brain dead GenZers!!! Signed, an unconcerned Boomer ;)
Actually. I was experimenting with chemicals at age 4. Otherwise you got everything else right. Where I live. There are a lot of forests. Including the animal predators that live in them. I spent a lot of time miles from any roads. Then I went on to hone some of my skills later in the military. Yes. We do exist.
Hey, I read the encyclopedia one summer thanks to boredom and rain 😂
"Conan the Barbarian" is also acceptable. We may ask you to quote from the movie, so watch it beforehand.
Dude!? Shhh!
Why you giving away my secrets lol 🤣
Gen x here and yes I really read the encyclopedias for fun. I really don't know why we are obsessed with gaining more and more knowledge, skills and capital, but it may be that we felt bullied by the boomer generation.
Dude sounds like Brainiac! 😅
We were raised by survivors of war. We WERE self taught ninjas and Macgyver rolled into one. And yeah, we learned everything about everything we could and made everything we could with a lot of garage chemistry.
Fun fact. Did you know that all the trees in surrounding areas are connected by little tiny roots. & if 1 gets invaded by bugs, that tree sends out signals to the other trees, & the other trees push out stuff so bugs won’t get on it. & if a tree starts to get sick, the other trees can also help it by pushing medicine through the roots
Yes! And there is research suggesting that whole forests communicate with chemical signals through the mycelium of fungi. Pretty amazing stuff!
@@odysseyeduardo well sorry for talking to you using small words lmao, I see now you know what you’re talking about😁
@@brandonfrisbee2559 just try not to use really big words! lol 😄
😅😂😂❤
They rolled the tv in the classroom and had us watch the Challenger Space Shuttle explode with a teacher in it. Then carried on wirh class like nothing happened. We didnt get safe spaces and counseling. We were taught to get back to work and do better.
Born March of 65 so I'm early gen X. We're dangerous in ways that gen Z can't even imagine! Hollyweird can't even fathom what we are capable of 😅
Lovely filming and editing man, 👏👏
Thank you! It took longer to edit than to hike it!😄But that's what you get when you think up something along the way I suppose!
When you grew up and before the age of 10 you were in at least 3 Summer Campaigns of BB Gun Wars and still remember the whelps……Whelp you can call yourself a Gen X’r.😮😂😅
Bonne chance mon amie,👌🏻💚💚
Thanks!
The hell?
I love seeing the underwater world, it's like a totally different reality. There are so many chill smaller fish in your area. I've been enjoying some pond swimming lately, but missing my old snorkel and goggles. Any recommendations for a cheap mask, or set with a snorkel?
Cheap masks are so hit or miss, but the cheap body glove mask seems to be working well. I bought it last year because it has a camera mount on it. As for my snorkel, that is from my scuba diving days. It is a tusa and cost $87 dollars in 2004, I cant imagine what it would cost these days. I know tusa brand makes some cheaper stuff though. Whatever you get, make sure it's made of silicone, not polyurethane.
lol, I’ve got a scar on my hip from the bow and arrow idiocy. Turns out I wasn’t quick enough….
