Simple deer hair caddis

Just so other Tyer's know, I did this and here's the materials I used: hook #14 Kumoto scud/ thread 12.0 nano silk in olive./ short fine grey(dun) deer hair 1" in length. I found the deer hair was to long for the hook I used so I made it shorter and trimmed the buts while in the clamp . I followed the tyer's method and it came out great . I hope this helps the other Tyer's watching . Happy tying.
Well done.
Very nice tying. Can you please tell me where i may purchase the vise you are using.Thankyou.
I purchased it at flyfinz in Lilydale.
I will NOT be subscribing to your channel because you have NO material list with the pattern your tying. I hate guessing!!! A bobbin cradle is a good investment. He used a tacky wax on his thread before inserting the deer hair to keep it in place before spinning it up. Compared to his thumb nail the hook size could be a wide gap #12-#10 possibly .
Hello Marian. Beautiful work. That pheasant tail nymph looks great with the orange tag.
Thanks. Pheasant tails are so important. I used them extensively during the world championship in Norway.
I think I really really but really need that tool.
No way I will pay 44.00 for that clip no matter how good it is
All he did was use it to put stuff in a dubbing loop...dosent look like anything special
SO you've never used the tool by the sounds of it, and OK so you never will. As they say, it's the best tool you never know you needed, until you do. It's really not that much money compared to the other options on the market, and all the so -called, "workarounds" people use (that, let's face it, don't work very well in the end). Don't hate when a proper tool is created that does the job very well, especially if you're basing your results solely off watching a TH-cam video.
@@BigRyTheFlyGuy actually found one just like it on wish for 3 dollars its a spring clip I had used an old metal binder clip before as well they both do a fine job in fact the 3 dollar one on wish is a set of 3 small medium and large oh and it cost me 4 dollars for shipping but thank you for your concern and God bless
Nice variation on a great fly. I bet it floats like a cork.
Thanks Gary I usually use roe deer for the wing when I tie shorter wing. I like this as a larger pattern good as a hopper variation as well.
