Colorful OTIS Single-File Escalators - PUMA Flagship Store - New York, NY
These are some nice single-file OTIS escalators with multi-colored handrail lighting. I absolutely HATE this setup though. It was really confusing to see for the first time, and while I was here I heard many other people express their frustration about having to walk all the way around. The escalators themselves are pretty nice, but I wonder why they couldn't just install two and make them go all the way up, instead of having a break.

Schindler Double-File Escalators - Target, SoHo - New York, NY

Here is yet another Target store in NYC! This store is located in the SoHo District and they have some newer Schindler escalators with power-saving mode enabled.
Montgomery KONE Double-File Escalators - Regal Cinemas, Times Square - New York, NY
มุมมอง 42112 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
Montgomery stayed away from New York for some reason, so their elevators and escalators are pretty much non-existent here. Out of the hundreds of escalators I saw while in the city, these are the only ones that had the Montgomery name, and they're not even pure Monty installations. These are nice though. They go up from the movie theater lobby to the third floor auditoriums, but they also stop ...
Short Little KONE Double-File Escalator - I LOVE NY Store - New York, NY
มุมมอง 22712 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
I was walking past this store and I saw what I thought looked like an escalator all the way in the back corner. I went in and sure enough, it was! Here's a little KONE that just goes up to a mezzanine level. There is no publicly visible elevator, so that level is not handicap accessible. Interesting to see an escalator in a smaller gift shop like this though.
Colorful Schindler Double-File Escalators - Old Navy, Times Square - New York, NY

Red Handrails! Nice ThyssenKrupp Medium-File Escalators - UNIQLO Flagship Store - New York, NY
มุมมอง 43719 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
This is the massive flagship UNIQLO store located on 5th Avenue in NYC. Upon entering the store, you are greeted with these very long escalators that go from the first floor up to the third floor. They have red handrails and they look very nice. I really like the configuration of these, where the sides are up escalators and the middle is a down escalator. For how busy this store is, I timed thi...
OTIS & Schindler Double-File Escalators - Raymour & Flanigan - New York, NY
มุมมอง 684วันที่ผ่านมา
This is a Raymour & Flanigan store located in Union Square. They have two types of escalators. The lower set, which is the original set to the building, was installed by OTIS. The upper set was installed by Schindler at a later date. I did not enjoy filming here at all. There were only a couple of other customers and there were a bunch of employees staring at me while I walked through their dea...

These are some basic Schindler installations that go from the street level down to the basement of this store. These have black powder coated base paneling which is a nice touch. The girl trying to get her hairclip she dropped with a hanger and then also dropping the hanger made this video a lot more entertaining lmaoo
KONE Double-File Escalators - Levi's, Times Square - New York, NY
มุมมอง 57014 วันที่ผ่านมา
These are the escalators at the flagship Levi's store in NYC right in Times Square. They are KONE installations and they run very well. For some reason, they couldn't just install 2 escalators and had them go all the way to the basement. Instead, there's a short break and then two short escalators to go the rest of the way down. I wonder why that is?
Westinghouse & Schindler Double-File Escalators - Century 21 NYC - New York, NY
มุมมอง 53514 วันที่ผ่านมา
This is a pretty unique escalator setup! These are old Westinghouse escalators with cool thin logos that are identical to the ones you see on the door sills of their elevators. I haven't seen this version on escalators very often, so this was a treat. The top set of escalators were added by Schindler.
Interesting KONE Medium-File Escalators - The North Face, 5th Ave - New York, NY

These are a little bit interesting. The metal siding on the balustrades are made up of patterned grates, rather than traditional solid stainless steel. If you stand at the right angle, you could see the gears inside.
Schindler Double-File Escalators Target, Herald Square - New York, NY
มุมมอง 65621 วันที่ผ่านมา
This is one of the many Target stores in NYC. This particular one is located nearest to Herald Square, so I'll just call it that. I hate escalators in this configuration because it makes it very hard to film. In setups like this, it's better to start by going down so you can just walk across and go back up, rather than going up first and walking all the way around like I did. I had ended my ele...
CONFUSING Setup! Schindler & KONE Double-File Escalators - Whole Foods, Union Square - New York, NY
มุมมอง 71621 วันที่ผ่านมา
What the HELL is this crazy setup?? This store is really small and it pretty much seems like they put an escalator wherever there was enough space. There is no sort of order or pattern at all...they're just all scattered around lol. Two of them were installed by Schindler and the other two were installed by KONE. What a strange configuration...

Wow I got to go check these out
Yea that setup really pissed me off going all in one direction. One of the most POINTLESS & WORST setups I've ever seen
Did they get a new escalator Schindler,Kone Otis?
Cool Video does the same key operate all escalators?
Yuh like Montgomery Kompany Escalator
What is the address of this store, sir?
Aye!! As I rode those today!! They’re sooo nice
These Otis escalators mark many anniversaries to come. I’m hoping these escalators will be around forever and ever
That's definitely KONE. I can tell by those big comb plates. Schindler's a smaller.
Those are my favorite escalators
Nice Westighouse.
My favorited Escalator ❤❤❤❤❤
This store has an interesting red Schindler escalator th-cam.com/video/jfEZnUbMpAQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=cWgCotdHzJUrOd9p
Yea I HATE how they do that too. The old Macy's in Portland did that like you have to walk around more to keep going up or down. That's a waste of time fs
I love the esacalators, but in Netherlands not in other country.Because i am living in The Netherlands and i want to know the escalators at the Netherlands
I Jaap
I don’t see a name for these but I’m assuming that it’s Schindler
Why you don't go up to 5???
Didnt have time
If they’re new it’s interesting that they’ve been done in the Eco3000 series style rather than the TravelMaster style. I preferred the Eco3000 I found they had more character and looked nicer. 😄
Nice. Seems like you found a few good ones here! Hopefully they’ve got plenty more years in them and if I visit, I’d have a look 😄
They’re such a great retro looking design! I wish more older escalators were kept running like this. 😄 Unfortunately most places don’t see anything special about old escalators and so many interesting installations have been lost…
Nice video. I found some Schindler escalators with grey handrails recently in Paris. When I think about it, for years manufacturers have offered many different colour handrails but it seems so rarely requested. I’ve seen red, green and blue on a few escalators but it’d be nice to see more like it! 😄
Absolutely gorgeous escalator. Are these original to the building?
Wyoming doesn’t have escalators at all, but there’s only two found in Casper, Wyoming. You should film them.
What happenes to the removed escalator? Two units put on display but what happenes to the other ones?
Are these escalators getting replaced by Schindler too?
Are they still going to be Otis?
Did you ask why they replacing them?
Are they going to replace the ones with the metal step treads back from the 50s
Most likely, but if I had to guess, those would probably go last
These wooden escalators was the museum ones
Really nice job. The new escalator looks very good and safe. But I originally hope they replaced wooden escalators with Kone Transitmaster 120. But I still like the Schindler ones.
No surprise that they're Schindlers, since Macy's has a contract with them
This is why I'm goin there in a month & 2 days
Oh no - I’d always thought it would be nice to go here if I went to NYC. I’m sure I read something a couple of years ago saying Macy’s wanted to preserve them, but things must have changed. There are still some left in Europe. I’ve filmed some long, fast ones in Budapest and they have some in Belgium and I believe still in the Netherlands too (Maastunnel), though slightly modded.
These are definitely KONE TransitMaster 180s telling by the gently angled handrail entry design and balustrade glass height at the ends. Schindler's balustrade glass height would be slightly shorter and their ends would be completely at a straight vertical angle. The landing lights next to the yellow step combs and the motor sound is also a sign these are KONE.
It's so difficult telling the differences on transit-style escalators lol
@@TheEscalatorChannel1 Otis is probably the easiest because they are the only ones to have reverse angle handrail entries and their balustrade glass/metal height is the shortest. TK Tugelas are basically Velinos with robust glass balustrades, so that's pretty easy. Victorias have flatter handrail entries then the Tugelas. KONEs if they have their signature handrail entry design are pretty easy. TransitMaster 220s are definitely easy to tell while TransitMaster 180s either have that conventional design (depicted in the video) or a weirdly shaped variant of TM210/220 handrail entries.
These are Kone - the comb plates, motor sounds and skirt lights make that a certainty 😄 Very nice!
That's absolutely depressing. RIP wooden escalators
Never rode a wooden escalator before. It's really sad to hear this but at least the store will keep the last remaining two units for display which is good for historical reason. A similar situation also happened in our domestic department store in Indonesia, where they had replaced almost all of their old 1960s Hitachi escalators (the very first escalators in Indonesia) into Schindler and keeping only one surviving unit for display only, thus preserving the country's first escalator from 1964 which I really appreciate that.
Is that the place that has an old single file running in the middle of two new escalators?
@@TheEscalatorChannel1 Yep
They should put at least a couple wood escalators on display at the Smithsonian or other museum devoted to invention and discovery.
nooo i think wooden Escalators are cool
There are some wooden escalators in Belgium at the St Anna tunnel still in operation and those may be the only ones in the world when these are all gone
So sad to see, but if they want to keep the store open and have safe escalators, they have to be replaced and I agree with the replacement project. Just like Macy’s in SF, the same thing is happening.
Why Complate Is Long?🤔
I believe they're thyssenkrupp.
Schindler? It's gotta be either Mitsubishi or Fujitec bc the step are more Asian made
Probably Fujitec then cause Mitsubishi doesn't install in NYC
Paternoster elevator is better for these building.
Are these your first bust at escalator video?
??
@@TheEscalatorChannel1 why the guy shut down you camera at the end?
@@attipekkajames that was my friend lol
Did you film a train?
yes
Nice! Well decorated store too, I like the lighting effects from that ceiling. Agree with you on the layout - I prefer the escalators to follow on from each other rather than have to walk round to the next one…
Slightly rushed
Closing of date
Pretty much all of their stores are closed
